10 years or so ago i saw a couple of octo barreled Winchester stainless/walnut factory pieces... Very pretty rifles they were, but yours makes theirs look sickly, in comparison....

It's nice to know that there is still craftsmanship somewhere in this world. That ain't no Chinese dollar store item!

That's beautiful, I've exactly that in mind for an 8mm Rem Mag that's been in the back of my mind

Beautiful rifle Bill. That is the stuff dreams are made of. smile

I also really like the new bolt handle. I can't say I love the stainless look but it might could grow on me after awhile. wink

Are open grips de rigueur on high end customs?

I would have to say that is the case for a lot of the top end stock builders. But, I believe it is a very good reason - they flat out feel super nice in the hands. Once you feel a nicely shaped open grip in your hands you wont ever go back.

I'll stipulate that I haven't had my hands on many total customs like that, but the rifles I've handled with open grips, and particularly those with long wrists if that's the correct term, don't suit me as well as a more closed configuration.

For example in commonplace rifles the Rem. 700 Classic works better for me than the Win. 70 XTR. I prefer to feel that I'm squeezing the trigger back rather than up.

Only problem I see is that it too nice to take in the field! Outstanding job!

Oh my. That is indeed a thing of beauty. The wood is gorgeous, and the stainless compliments it very well. Enjoy.

And the best part is that it shoots as good as it looks. Today I ran some Winchester Supreme 180gr through it for 3 3 shot groups at 100 yards. All 3 groups were cloverleafs. I could not be happier with it. I cant wait to hunt with it this fall.

Very nice though I think matte rings and scope look much better than shiny on top of shiny.....relatively speaking.
