I'm with you. I don't bother to calculate slopes, and we don't have many icy driveways around here. After firing the new 95S load, I'd probably simply adjust my next trial charge using the logic of "The book says that your have to increase charge by 2.2 grains to increase velocity by 100 fps. I want to add 50 fps, so I'll increase the charge by 1 grain."

Your idea of making and preserving the 95S load in a known safe operating area struck me as being an elegant, but simple, solution to a common problem.
