Very Nice. Great looking rifle.
Now why does your have the rounded stud for the sling and mine have the flat bottom?
Is that some old chewed up antler-bone down under the Butt Stock? Or Part of an old Branch? Sure Looks like old Antlered-bone.

Those are flat bottomed studs, no round to them.

Thats an old chewed on moose rack that was laying around the deer camp, 2 year old spike bull. Good eating those little buggers. Kinda like Walleye. It's nice to get a 9 pounder for the wall bu they taste like crap. Same goes for moose, the little one are tastier.

Agreed on the Smaller Ones.Better tasting.
I still like what you guys call Jac-Fish, as good as walleye
Especially if you back-azz-wards fillet them,,then no bones,,and old swede showed that trick up at our place in Canada. Works like a charm.

Only fluted comb I remember seeing on a 99T was one that Cabela's had up, and it had other problems and I'm 99% sure the wood wasn't correct.

I think all pre-war 99R's had fluted combs.. but can't find any notes on this.

Nice 99RS there, Steve. I had one for a bit, but passed it along - it was so nice it made me nervous. Got a nice 99R shooter now.

That 250 of yours looks like a screamer.
Very nice, but i would rather hunt with one like the other fellow has, don't have to worry about scratching it.

This one is a 300. And I don't think it ever saw much light of day in it's life.

Yes, those swivel studs are correct for a pre-WWII 99RS. Only model they are correct for, so if you have the same style forearm then you very possibly have an RS. Here's a closeup of a forearm from an RS.

Is that a 300 or 250? I have a couple other 99's with almost the same checkering pattern on the side panels as your does.

Steve,

Not a pre war 300. I have post war 1950s Rs. Two of them. 250 and 300.

Take care,
Jeff

1899, Sorry I haven't been around sooner, two guys who were very important to me, my dad and a hunting mentor, passed away within a week of each other, they will be missed.

My 99RS is a .300Sav. I have heard of two other guns that went back to G&H for mounts and have the same checkering pattern, I think it was a package deal?

Best, Rob
