I did some, with a charge of 30 grains of RL 7...

were very accurate..

also loaded some up for another youngster who took a blacktail with one, but using 125 grain Speer TNTs instead...

blacktails are usually antelope sized...

So I loaded some cases with 35.5 grains of BLC2 and got the same MV Hornady Factory ammo got with their 160 grain FTX...

so are they telling us that they recommend a lighter charge so the public can't duplicate their factory loads MV??

I'm with you the 150 gr. Accubonds sound good but don't know but what they are designed for the 30-06 etc...

The old 150 and 170 gr. Rem Corelokts are cheap from Midway etc. and they work perfect every time as do the Winchester Silvertips in the 30-30, in fact all factory ammo/bullets works great....keep in mind the factories have had a couple of hundred years to perfect the 30-30 bullets! I have used most of them and the Sierra and Hornday bullets have worked well also, just be 30-30 specific when you buy..

when we were using single-shot .30-30 loads for deer the 125 gr. NBT was the bullet of choice. At the lower velocities it works VERY well, and we shot many SD whitetails and mulies with them.

The 125 grain Nosler BT's are very accurate in my 300 Sav, not a whole lot different from a 30-30. Last week I shot the same loading, only with 125 Speer TNT's. The first two shots went into the same hole at 100 yards. The third shot landed beside the other two, cutting the same hole, for a group of .312.
39 grains of RL-7 and Fed 210's. The NBT's shot a .250, 3 shot group at 100 last year. The rifle is as accurate as many benchrest rifles, only it's a sporter built 60 years ago, a Rem 722.

I know the 125gr BT is the bullet of choice for Contender shooters in the .30-30, especially in the 14" barrels. Personally, I think it should work great out of a 20-22" barrel. A stiff load of 4198, H335, BL(C)-2, or the like whould give you velocities in the 2400fps range, which is more than enough.

Start at 31.0 grains of 3031 and work up to 33.0 grains, which should be the sweet spot for a 125 BT, 125 WW FN, or a 130-gr Speer.
