Mr. Rogue; Thanks so much for putting up the photos and story of your son's successful hunt.
Please pass along congratulations to him on that fine buck!
I'm not sure if I like the red plaid coat, the 99 or the fact your Dad was along the most, but it makes for a very cool and memorable combination indeed.
I'd like to send you a tip of the hat for taking the time to teach your son what we love so much and a 2nd one for including your father in that process as well. Very well done sir!
Thanks again and good luck on your upcoming hunts, Dwayne

Good on you for teaching the boy to hunt and shoot, and taking him in the outdoors.
You are learing the boy right too, plaid wool jacket, M99, he's defeniatly headed in the right direction.
Great job!

Congrats! 10 to 1..as soon as they left to make the push, the kid jacked a live one in it When he rolled the action the buck stopped to look back at him. Actually worked better for him. The party mostly packs hot. I give the kid the option and he packs cold cause he wants to. I've packed cold while hunting the last few seasons and am fine with it. We always carried hot growing up, that's what everyone around here did. I was probibly 30 years old the first time I heard of someone hunting without a round in the chamber. It's interesting the guys in the party that have started to pack cold are the more serious hunters with the higher success rates. They have switched over without me or anyone else preaching at them.

That's awesome!
Before I even saw the shot of him skinning that buck, I could tell he was a wrestler. Looks like he'll be a force to reckon with here in few years, if not already!

Very nice blacktail and an outstanding job. Love the smile and of course the rifle is classy to boot.

Nice deer for your son!
I will be out east of Roseburg at the end of the month looking for a blacktail. One this size would definitely be shot!

East of roseburg has some big bucks and a lot elk as well. We're a wrestling family he's been brawling since he was four. Sitting in the bleachers at his football game right now, he's center and middle linebacker on his 8th grade team.

Too cool, where I live wrestling is pretty much a way of life for most. Definitely is a great sport, that is for sure. I'd imagine he's quite the football player as well!

Too cool... Thats about the age I was when I shot my first buck, and got into Ju-Jitsu. You should black and white that photo of him by himself, print it and frame it for him for x-mas. Then when he's a grampa, they'll think he's REALLY old

Of course I know how to patch drywall

Very nice. You must be proud of your boy, Rogue. Come to think of it, your dad looks pretty pleased as well. Looks like a good, healthy family to me.

F'n... "A"...!!!
That's what is is all about...!!! And a Savage 99 to boot...!!!
Mike...
All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

That picture could have easily been a picture of me and my grandpa when I was 13 in 1976.
We wore the same clothes and hunted with the same guns when I was a kid 30+ years ago.
Awesome picture.
