Those Sako barrels are tough to beat.Usually always shoot decent with most types of bullets.

GO Laminate Stainless. I waited an additional year (2003 to 2004)so I could get the 270WSM in the LS model....not a fan of the T3 Synthetic stock either. My wife - fiance back in 2004 took over my first T3 LS 270WSM so I bought another for me soon after...LOVE THEM 140gr Accubonds are the bullet.

Here is some Tikka T3 LS eye candy for you.

Or even better-Sako m75 Greywolf-300WSM and my 338-06 Ackley!

I have a T3 lite stainless synthetic that was the ugliest gun I ever bought. That was a year and a half ago and I tried all last winter to make it fail. No success. I took it out at -40 just for the halibut, and it fed, shot and grouped just fine considering the numb fingers and skull. At that temp a 3" five shot group made me happy. The barrel did not heat up much. ha ha. I tossed the three shot mag around after it had been outside an hour, and it held up. I am also beginning to like the look of it, which is quite a statement for an avowed blue/wood stock nut to admit to. The reason I tested the three shot mag rather than the five, is they are twenty bucks cheaper.

I was looking for a .308 SS/Syn last year and there were none anywhere. I did run across a closeout on a SS/Lam in .308 and bought it. I put it away since they were going to be hard to find. I have a dealer that I got mine from with a few in stock, I'll call him or you can @ 540-992-4867 Eastern Time. His name is Mike and runs Shooters Discount. Last time I was there he had about 5-6 of the Laminates, but I dont know what calibers. Hope this helps.

I have had two of those Tikkas, a 243 and a 223. In both cases, the best groups I could get were 2 1/2 inches. Factory loads, different bullets, powders, tried everything. No better or no worse than 2 1/2 inches. The only way I was able to get smaller groups was to trudge out to the 300 yard range, pick up the targets, and put them back up at 100 yards. Pretty discouraging...

Thanks for the heads up Kevin!

Fred, for some reason or another I knew where you were going the 2.5" groups. Maybe it's because about 2.5 hours ago Dober told me you had a T3 223 that shoots 'ok'.....(grin)

Like a dummy, I sold it! But am going to replace it with another Tikka, only a wood stock this time. I still have the 243 which is a tremendous amount of fun, mostly because it is so accurate. Drug it out coyote hunting today for one 15 minute set up, but to no good frown

Haven't found anything the Tikka DOESN'T like- I am using 80 grain ballistic tips and they shoot under an inch. Killed some prairie dogs and an atelope with them so far.

Sammos right though..1 in 12 twist...

It shoots 53 gr. TSXs just fine, and deer fall down in front of it...but I too would like the flexibility of a tighter twist..

Ingwe

And oh, yeah...its got an R3 pad...to notch down the kick a bit...sweet... wink
