Got a synthetic Ruger stock I want to custom paint myself. Would like to get the spatter/splatter effect and have read that some of the spray paint companies have products that do just this; can't seem to find them online.
Anyone have stock nos. for Krylon or Rustoleum splatter products?

Thank you, Scorpion. Sure wish they had it in red, too.

we find it locally at some of the arts/craft stores.
you can use the semi gloss clear in Durakote over it. Makes it very tough

ive done both the peeble stone and the webbing spray paint finnishes. if you dont clear them they will rub off easily. the paint is supose to be for craft projects and watch out for solvents around finnished pieces also. they do look jam up when done though. ive don e5 so far

Went to the craft store last night to get some of this paint the colors were limited and the best choice for a base they had was green and they only had the gold splatter. I had an old stock laying around so I figured what the hell and tried it out. I think it turned out nice for the first try considering the colors I had to work with. Very easy to do.

I've done my own spatter type finishes with Polane T. After spraying the base coat, one adds the spatter color and turns the volume knob up and the air psi down on the paint gun and tests the effect on a piece of cardboard. If it's good then go to town. It won't rub off like the cheap piss can finishes do.

mussleblast....
I am using both the airbrush, and the HVLP gun for cerakote. You can do a lot with a Mini HVLP gun though.. You will want to look for .08mm tip (if I recall)...
Hint,,, It is all about the prep.....

So Brasshound and eddief, did y'all both take the NIC classes? No sir I have not and don't plan it. NIC did call and was very interested in how I figured out how to web with cerakote because they haven't figured out how to do it yet. In fact, I'm not aware of anybody in the industry that knows how to do it. I guess you could say it's my little secret (grin).

Have not and do not plan to take any of their classes either. Found the same as Eddie, this is all new territory for this company.

Will likely fart around with spray paint on that Ruger Mk II stock a bit, but if I decide to keep my recently blooded Ruger No. 1 Tropical .375 will likely contact y'all both about getting the metal coated to look like Ruger Target Grey.
I think that shade with the nice wood on this rifle would look fanastic...

You could also send it to Rick Bin for a quality job at an affordable price without all the hassle.
