Does anybody shoot the TC shockwaves in 200gr. with the blue sabot and yellow tipped bullets? Im curious how they peform on whitetail deer. Should I just stay with the 240gr ?

They are one accurate bullet in every ML I've tried them in.I have limited experience with them on deer, but they have killed very well so far.

Doc Encore uses them a ton. I'm sure he'll chime in here when he wakes up from his daily nap...

It's the only bullet my T/C group shoots except for 1 T-C Pro Hunter rifle that shot better with the 250 gr shock-wave.

I killed an 8 pt. 2 Mondays ago at a LAZERED 202 yards taking the top of heart off that went 30 yards. The exit hole was 1 1/2 inch in diameter after losing I figure 400+ feet in velocity before the bullet hit him. That is great bullet performance.

We all load between 100 grs, 105 grains and 110 grains of BH-209 powder and my group has killed a pile of deer with the 200 gr shock-wave. In the future, if a T-C rifle will not "shoot" that bullet the barrel goes back to T/C.

Importantly the 200 gr. shock wave has 6 inches less drop at 200 yards than any comparable 250 gr bullet...I have shot them at 200 yards...I know.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 250 gr shock-wave, it is also a great bullet. More deer are killed every year with the 250 gr. shock-wave than any other.

The difference between the 200 gr shock-wave and the 250 gr. shock-wave is the same as a discussion between the 130 gr VS 150 gr bullet for the 270 or 150 gr VS 180 gr for the 30-06. All will work.

The 200 gr shockwave does offer 20% less recoil and does shoot flatter.

How do they work at shorter distances? like inside of 50 yards.

I assume you mean the 200 gr shock-wave, just a bigger exit hole. If you can get 2 deer to line up properly you will have 2 to drag out.

May have to try the 200SW in my Omega.....mine just doesn't like 250s and BH209.

My current load is 2 777 magnum pellets and the 250SW, but want to switch to BH209 if I can find a load that shoots.

May have to give the 200s a try...

I shoot the 250 gr bonded shockwaves in my Omega over 110 gr of BH 209 with a Rem primer. 1 1/2" avg group at 100 yards

Don't give up on the 250 gr shock-wave just yet, but give up on the "pellets" an I will explain. All barrels have "Barrel Harmonmics" including muzzle loading barrels. The harmonics is the vibration of the barrel as the bullet is pasing down the steel tube creating barrel vibrations. Barrel "Accuracy" is achieved when the bullet exits the barrel at a cetain speed that the barrel is
in the same position each time.

With pellets you have "No variables to increase or decrease speed other than load 2 (50 gr.)or add a (30gr.) pellet.

Start you BH-209 charges at 100 grs, then 105 and 110 and maybe even 115 grs.

If you don't get a group with either the 200 gr or 250 gr shock-wave there are other issues to be fixed but I bet that you DO get a group.

I got decent groups with BH209 and the 250SW, 2 1/2" to 3", tried 100 to 120 grains.

I get 1" with 2 777 mag pellets and the 250 so I know it will shoot them.

I am going to try the 200SW and BH209 this winter.....

Picked up some 200gr. Shockwaves last night. Report after our second storm of the year passes.

BTW, is 120 grains of BH too much of a good thing to start?

120 grains would be considered a "MAX" charge. I would start at 100 grins and shoot 2 shots. If the second shot is not close enough to the first shot to suit you just add 5 grains to the powder measurer and shoot 2 more.

At 110 grains of BH-209 you are exceeding 2100 FPS. The T-C Triumpth you are shooting is not as heavy as the Encore and you will feel the 120 gr charge.

Once you find the "load" dial your scope to 9X and hold the INTERSECTION of the thick and thin crosshair DEAD ON your 200 yard taget. You might be a inch or two low but that is dead deer anyway. This only works at "9X". You could always try the scope setting at "8X" and be dead on at 225 yards.

Yeah, 120 is max - the Triumph was shooting fairly well with it and 250gr Shockwaves but it really settled in with the 110gr load.

I've only a 6x on my rifle so your reticle solution might not be for me. My theory on starting it as fast as possible was to overcome the holdover factor. *grins*

I've found that if you hold shelled corn in your hand you can eliminate holdover...

Does that include the back deck to your house and a crossbow.

Doc encore, What is your POI at 100 and 200 yards? With the 150 gr. of 777 pellets and 245 spitfire my drop is 10 inches.
My 9 year old son has shot 2 bucks with the 200 gr shockwave and 90 gr of powder. Bullet performance seemed good. Shots were about 70 yards. Dean
