Depends on your eyes, any muscle tremors, pulse pressure, etc. Best way I ever found was to say screw the holding still and use a slow. predictable movement of the firearm over the target and time the shot.

That's some good shooting, SH. And a lot of the folks that say it's easy that hasn't tried it will be very surprised when they do. I have my best luck with moving the sights and trying to time my trigger pull with the alignment of the sights and target.

Doesn't really matter too much........tho for sure it would be more impressive with a 416 than a 22.

I used to shoot a lot of pistol competitions & that does wonders for off hand shooting, but I just don't get enough trigger time anymore to say I'm as good as I once was.

I can do that in my sleep, but only in my sleep. Loose my ability to do all sorts of stuff when awake.

I grew up shooting squirrels in the head off hand. Most all of my game is shot off-hand except for the few shots at crows and such. Out to 100 is not a problem, but I'm sure I couldn't place them that close together. That is good shooting.

Just practice with a sling.It will get better.

I can do it with a most of my rifles. Having a good crisp trigger is the key. I want my triggers to be light so that as soon as the crosshairs are on the intended target the rifle goes bang. With a good trigger it works with a poor or heavy trigger you move to far in between the time you want to shoot and the time you actually shoot.

Pistols on the other hand don't even ask.

Most of my big game has been shot with guns that barely collect a pie plate at 100 off a bench.

Head shots on squirrel, phooey. I make them look at me, and wait till they open their mouths. Makes for a clean, no fur damage shot with my ten pump Daisy. I use it at a hundred fifty paces, just to keep it sporting.

It's what I grew up doing. I learned to hunt with my Granddaddy, and he was a squirrel hunter, after he couldn't walk enough to continue bird hunting. I started with a 410 and didn't like it. I wanted to use a 22, when cleaning them, my grandaddy said, if you are going to use a 22 why don't you shoot them in the head? When skinning them, if shot in the body they would pull apart. He didn't like that. It had never occured to me to shoot them in the head, so from then on that's what I did. It's not really that difficult.

Besides with a body shot they don't always fall right there, sometime run off to a hollow. With a head shot they are DRT.
