I turned in my Lott today to have it restocked. I brought it to wildwestgus to see what they could do. I ended up going with the kevlar stock with a mercury recoil reducer and the stock will be filled for weight.
I wanted to go with the wood stock but they suggested the kevlar, which surprised me because it was cheaper.
We will see.

I build a lot of the big bore rifles and it is a world of its own to keep a 458 Lott in the stock....I have seen fibers come sticking out of composite stocks from the recoil of the Lott and the 505 Gibbs...
I would go with wood, glass and piller bed it with an additional recoil lug on the barrel, I would also have cross-bolts installed....
To my mind the weight in the butt desturbs the balance of a good DGR rifle and thats not good...I'd go with a KDF if recoil is a problem...Its so damn loud anyway that it will ruin your hearing with or without a KDF....Simply use ear protection which you should anyway and when hunting you don't normally notice it anyway out in the open...
------------------
Ray Atkinson
atkinsonhunting.com
208-326-4120
