What do you AK. guides and others like for grizzly? This would be for the 375 H&H at distances under 200 yards. Is a solid bullet an option to consider or just any number of premium bullets that will be mentioned. Thanks.

300 grain Barnes TSX, but the 300 grain Swift AF would probably work as well.

Testimonial in support of the prior recommendation - AK bear at 45 yards This is the 300 grain .375" Barnes TSX recovered from this bear after a 45 yd. shot Although fired from a 375 Ruger, the load duplicates 375 H&H ballistics, so performance should be similar

Why not a 260 grain Nosler Partition or my choice which is a 300 grain Nosler Partition.

Why not a 260 grain Nosler Partition or my choice which is a 300 grain Nosler Partition. elkhunter: I am no grizzly expert, having only shot two,so can only tell what happened with what I have seen used. No reason why not to use the 260 or 300 grain...I've used the old screw machine Partition 270 grain as well...they worked great also;have been on the scene when the 300 Partiton was used on BB also...it sure kills them! But I could see no measurable difference in the way any of them killed. If I went after grizz again I would use the same 250 gr load. I am one of those "high weight retention, broad frontal" area people....had the 250 BBC so used them....they break both shoulders on a big Alaskan Brown nicely, with a lot of effect;the load rocks them pretty good from what I can tell.More retained weight than the Partitions with larger frontal area. They will make exit about as often as they stay inside, and when they exit, make large holes and there is blood everywhere.

I never shot a bear, but that's what I would use if I were to hunt Grizzly. Are BBC still being made?

Most griz guides here like the gernade affect of the Nosler Partition. The fella that bought my 375 was gonna try Remington ammo with the Swift A Frame bullet.

I load and use only the Woodleigh weldcore bullets in all my .375H&H's. I have found this to be a 100% reliable bullet. For me the answer has been thicker jackets and bonded core bullets. I have had failures from all the makes of bullets mentioned here, except Woodleigh. The 375 H&H in the weldcore is my go to bullet for everything. Woodleigh

elkhunter: No; they are no longer made, nor are they available...but no matter because today there are many really good bullets. When you could get BBC's there were just them, and Partitions. The TBBC came after, along with the Swift Aframe, the Grizzly, then X,then Northfork,Woodleigh, etc.Today there are lots of really good bullets....
The real problem with grizzly hunts is being able to afford them.....

Not sure why you'd want, and you certainly don't need, a solid for bears. There is nothing about them that resembles armor. While the lighter weights in some designs should be avoided, there are so many good, very adequate bullets for bears that you can just about flip a coin. (Heck, even a 300 GameKing is a rather stout bullet in the caliber in question; not necessarily a recommendation, but I've seen them work well.) You've already gotten plenty of good ideas for expanders that will drive deep. They'll do.

I don't recommend solids and my two favorite bullets for the .375 are the 270 TSX and the 300 Partition.

I've used the 270 TSX on one bear. Two shots at 120 yards both went completely through and weren't recovered. I'm really suprised at the 300 TSX not completely penetrating at 45 yards, that's boggling.
