Can a Rem 700 barrel be rethreaded to a large ring Mauser or does it have to be threaded to a small ring Turk?

I think not. One would have to cut off the threads and re thread it. Problem is Rem 700's have no shank. Just idle thoughts from a mostly idle mind...

You can put a rem 700 take-off barrel on a large ring, small thread mauser, like the turk, only.

You can use them on a small thread mauser by turning down the tenon, then re-threading. You'll still have to run a chamber reamer in as it isn't goind to quite match up once you face off the remington counterbore. Turks are large ring actions with small ring thread.
For large ring thread actions, you'll have to cut off the threaded section of the barrel, and the way Remington tapers there barrels, there really isn't enough metal left to procude a shoulder on the barrel.

At the risk of getting flamed I will stick my neck out. I was told by a smith that it can be done. the remington is just a few thousands of an inch smaller than the mauser. Without removeing any material from the diameter of the remington tenon you can cut the mauser threads over the top of the remington threads. the mauser threads are coarser and deeper than the remington threads which allows you to screw the remington barrel into the mauser action.

recutting a 700 for a LR 98 probably can be done, but cutting throuugh previous threads sounds like it could weaken them.
and to the above poster (1938) is the 1938 turk.

The 25-06 barrel has been cut off and threaded then reamed to 257R. I say this because the 25-06 is a longer case then the 257R. The Remington 700 thread shank is .037 smaller then a large ring Mauser that would be an awfully sloppy fit for a hole expecting a 1.1 O.D threaded shank. You can turn them down and thread for small ring Mauser with out any issues. I have done that.

The 98 Mauser does not require a barrel with a shoulder. The military barrel's apparent shoulder is the same OD as the threads.

yes barrel shank was cut off and new shank turned and threaded and chamber reamed for 257 rob. i don't see any issue with that
