There's some things you should not admit to.

work sucks, I want to go fishing.... Last day of dove season here. I'm taking the 16ga boat anchor out. If I get anything I'll post pics, since doves are not fish.

Something clever here.

I would hate to take this thread off topic , but it looked like a good place to pose my question. I was thinking about buying an '03 but I think I may want a M1917 Enfield instead. Can any of the military gun gurus chime in with what to look for or avoid when buying an M1917?

Not exactly a military gun guru...but the guys seem to like Winchesters first and foremost in 1917s, and look for rifles that are as close to original as possible...any deviation, replaced parts, etc...is considered to be not a good thing...There were lots of makers for 1917s, some are more "collectable" than others....but they are all fun guns, if you are looking for a shooter..

Ingwe I am just looking for something fun to shoot. Wouldn't mind a Enfield Jungle carbine either but I would rather have an '06.

Eddystones are usually the best buy in a 1917...if you are looking for a shooter...
