Just was surfing the internet and came across some pictures of a Sako AV 9.3X62 . Beautiful rifle. Looks like I need one now. Does anyone have any information on this rifle. When was it made? Is it still made? If you own one how do you like it?

I tried, via some contacts in the arms business, to get an 85 in 9.3 and they couldn't do it. They said some things might be changing on that front in the coming year. I'm hoping so.

The Sako AV's were made from about 1980 up until the early 90's. I own several A series Sako's and think very highly of them. They are well made, rugged and accurate.

"The Sako AV's were made from about 1980 up until the early 90's. I own several A series Sako's and think very highly of them. They are well made, rugged and accurate." I couldn't have said it better myself.

Where did you see the pics of a Sako AV in 9.3x62? Wookie just posted a couple pictures of mine on AR and Sako Collectors. Good luck finding an A series in 9.3x62, they are very, very rare in the US.

Yes, there are two of them. The first one has the walnut stock and is very nice. Mine is the Fiberclass at the bottom of the page. Mine came with a beautiful walnut stock, but I put it in a factory Fiberclass (McMillan) stock.

I have been an avid Sako collector for about 22 years and have only seen two, and they were on line. I missed one in 1999, but snagged this one (NIB) in 06. Good luck with your search.
