Shown with 450 grain Barnes and Kodiak bullets.

Barrel is a 19-1/2 inch Pac Nor. Two mercury recoil absorbers in butt stock, with a Kick Eez pad. A stock through bolt secures the butt stock. Bedded in acragals around the tangs. Vais brake. 3 round magazine. (The balance point, with 3 in the mag and one up the spout, is right at the center of the receiver, where you carry it with one hand) Robar Rogard finish (the black) plus Robar NP3 internals and some externals (the silver). This is a prototype rifle, still a few things to do: I want to make a "drop proof" rear sight, plus I need to make a front magazine tube hanger that will withstand the impact of the cartridges when the rifle is under recoil. A lot of modifications to the internals of the receiver and carrier to make the longer fatter case feed. (50 Cal on the top, a stock 45-70 M1895 Gov't on the bottom.)

The ugly part, the M98 proof gun. Note the 80 pound channel iron, and the steel block (there are two 1/2 inch diameter bolts from the under side of the channel holding the block)plus the key stock for absorbing the recoil. The aluminum middle block is bolted to the steel block. All recoil from the M98 is on the recoil lug. This whole thing recoils back about 5 inches on each shot! Note the lanyard on the trigger, it is 25 feet long. The strain gauge is under the black tape on the barrel, you can see the wire lead coming out of the tape. YaHooo!!! And you think that 450 Marlin has recoil!!!! Where's that whisky my Southern Brethan call Rebel Yell?

------------------

"Targeting Precision"
starolypen.com
[This message has been edited by John Ricks (edited February 02, 2001).]
[This message has been edited by John Ricks (edited February 02, 2001).]
