Good conversation thread, as we call all see just about everyone's group has a different Idea of what's right to do.
The only right thing to do is to know what the other guy's expect.
Saddlesore - I sure as heck can't throw rocks about being a grouch when things don't go as planned. I enjoy the hell out of hunting, it gives me a reason to stay in shape, and hell I'll lose half of what I own if I start chasin' women. I've bit the head of my own kid for screw'n up - it's part of car'n for folks.
Ya might want ta re-think if your no fun to hunt with, I for one don't believe it.
The biggest thing I learned from Elk hunting this year is if your going to make a mistake do it on the side of being there for the other guy vs. not being there. And grouch helped me learn that probably because he cared - can't beat that. Sooner or later if you have a wife, husband, son, or hunting partner long enough your gonna either get offened, or piss someone off. Just part of being in a real relationship.
Personally I like an old grouch more than a guy who'll walk away and never say anything to ya. The later really doesn't give a [bleep] about you.
