One of the things that is overlooked when people look at the massive horns is the beard. I've shoot 2 kudu - one is 55" and one 54". To me, the 54" looks better - has wider horns - turn out and a much nicer beard.
When I was in Namibia last time, I could have shot one that the PH thought had a 61-62" horn. Only thing was - it just had one horn. The other one was broken at the base. I'm sure that saved that kudu's bacon more than once. When I got home, my taxidermist said he could have fixed that - I don't know if I'd do that or not. Jeff See, problem with me is that might very well have cost him his life. I like horns/heads like that.

Jeff Jeff, I'd have to agree with you about the beard..........that Cape Kudu bull pictured in this thread has a magnificent beard and mane as well as beautiful coloration......I like him more than my bigger bulls, on the wall! ATB, Blair.
