Andy.....Just a note....The 338-06+Varget plus 210 TTSX's works great.

Varget is a powder that I'm giving great consideration towards. Hoping to run a 210 gr. (something) to the areas 2700 to 2750 fps if possible. Partition, Scirocco, TTSX are all in the running...

My 23" barrel only pushes them to 2,600FPS with Varget at about 15 feet from the muzzle but it's very accurate.

I've been shooting it in my 338/06 with 200 NBT's. In my 23" tube 63.5 gets me a skosh over 2900.

Dober-
That seems hot, but maybe not for your chamber and particular rifle. I admit, I have "ZERO" experience with RL-17 but see that RL-15 in the Hornady manual is 57.1 grs. for 2900 fps with their 200 gr. SP. Is the load you describe the "T" total max for your set up?

It would seem that RL-17 with it's heavy density and a 4350 burn rate might work well.

I have found the 338-06 to shoot all powders pretty well (well the half dozen or so that I have tried).

By my way of thinking, and this is just me but I feel that the 338/06 has a fair bit mo stomp than the 06. They'll both kill just fine but when it comes down to the finer points of ballistic gack the 338/06 is more gun.

Get me thinkin about the "Mo Stomp" and you'll push me over the edge to pick up the 338/06 sitting at a local shop. I know the smith who put it together and it's being sold for the owner's widow. Might just have to throw a pile of trading stock in the truck and go. And, the shop once again has a pretty good stock of powders including Reloader 15 & 17.

Ward, push, pushover.

I really think, you will be happy with this round. Great power for the case. Very accurate, nice assortment of bullets.

I'm real happy with mine.

Wish you luck.
