What would be your choice for an accurate 375? Price must be reasonable (under $1500). Too bad Savage does not make one.......

There is a post "Where can I get a decent 375HH" that is only a week or so old. It will give you some good places to start.
Remington marketed the 798.

I can't speak for the Rem 798 (Made by Zastava) but this is what my CZ 550 Safari Magnum in 375 H&H can do at 100 yards and 270gr Hornady bullets. I've got about $1,100 in it and that includes a Leupold VX-II on top.

the Steyr .376 mountain rifle is very accurate.

I would like to recommend an older Sako, the A5 series, or a TRG-S, if you prefer synthetic. Both are very nice rifles, and very accurate. And available for around the 11-1200 dollar mark. Try and get a deluxe if you can.

I have heard that .375 H&H's tend to be very accurate in general. Don't know if it is true, but both of mine were.
I have had two .375 H&H's, a Sako and a Brno (=CZ).
Both shot like the pictures Heeler posted above -- and with almost any jacketed bullet load I tried.
Sold the CZ (too heavy), but kept the Sako (just 7.7 pounds with Leupold 3x scope in steel Sako rings).

I believe Savage makes one in their Weather Warrior. My buddy has one in Alaska.

My Ruger No.1 in .375H&H would shoot sub-moa with 270gr Hornadys. I usually see them for sale used for around $750.

I'd try one of the remington 798's on closeout, I think they're going for $499 or so from CDDN. At that price you could rebarrel it if it didn't shoot well and still have well under $1500 in it.
I have a charles daly 30-06, which is the exact same rifle as the remington 798, remington just took over the importing of the Zastava mausers from Charles Daly. I bought my 30-06 for $260 on closeout when remington took over the importing. It's one of the best shooting rifles I have, consistently grouping under 1 MOA. I wouldn't be afraid of a Zastava mauser at all, they're highly underrated rifles.

I have a push feed Win 70 I bought on a used rack several years ago that is an honest MOA rifle. It shoots both 260 Partitions and 285 Grand Slams very well. With a Leupy 3-9 I have less that $750 into it. Just a thought.

I don't think I have found a not accurate .375 H&H, they just seem to work. There are also a lot of used rifles out there, I would haunt the auction sites and see what you find.

Was pleased when my Ruger Number One .375 H&H printed this group at 100 yards with 260 gr Nosler Accubonds: I'm also consistently banging the 12" gong at 300 yards from prone & sitting with 270 gr Hornady SP's: Heck of a rifle! Regards, Guy

What's "accurate"? I had a #1 Stainless .375 that shot around 3/4 of an inch with the 260 grain ballistic tips once I had my gunsmith install a hanger tension screw, before that it strung vertically about 1.5 inches, but shot a very narrow width group.
For under $1500 I'd probably start with a 700 XCR. Mine was about $900 new. That leaves enough to buy a match grade barrel and have it installed (if the factory barrel doesn't shoot welle enough for you) and still leave $$ for a box of shells.
