Bought both of these rifles from other members here. Both are excellent shooters, but I just took the plunge and ordered a McWhorter so need to clean out the safe a little!

1. (top rifle) MRC 1999 Stainless Action with a #4 Montana Barrel in 264WM bedded into a McMillan Supergrade with Edge which was painted by RickBin. The Bottom metal and bolt have been polished and the rest of the rifle is bead blast. I've tested 3 different loads in this rifle using 130 Nosler AB's and Barnes 120 tsx bullets and all 3 shot in the .6 to .8 range at normal .264 maximum speeds. I can share load data if desired. $1150 for rifle, Leupold dual dovetail 30mm rings and bases. Can have the Leupold LPS 3.5-14x50 with mildot reticle for $780 more. Glass is perfect as is exterior except for small ding pictured on side focus knob. Will separate scope at that price. Scope should not have ring marks - it didn't have them when I put it on and i don't over-torque my scope rings.

2. Semi-custom M700 .270 Win. C-prefix LA M700 action, ADL style, 22" stainless titanium .270 factory barrel (Mtn rifle contour), factory 700 Ti stock. Gunsmithing done by Ray Montgomery in Colorado included truing action and bolt as needed, install lightweight bolt shroud and firing pin, install factory .270 barrel (set back) and rechamber, recrown (protected crown), and bead-blast barrel. Prior owner wallowed out the barrel channel just a tad at the tip of the forend, but it's barely noticeable and could easily be glass-bedded. Last pic shows this - it's on the bottom of barrel when looking down from the top. I have factory stocks that have bigger gaps. I put a new X-mark trigger in this one as the factory trigger had quite a bit of creep in it. I also put in new trigger guard. Adjusted to 2.5 lbs and breaks nicely. Weight is 7 1/8 lb with scope - super light and well smithed rifle. I haven't had this one long and only had time to try two factory loads in this one. 130 grain Win SP's shot 1.3 inches and Hornady Superformance 140 grain interbonds shot .75 for 3 consecutive 3 shot groups at 2900 fps. $700 for rifle including Talley's. Scope is a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 with # 20 Z-Plex reticle and shouldn't have any ring marks on it. $650 for scope - will separate.

Have original boxes for both scopes but don't have original boxes for rifles. All prices include shipping in the CONUS and your FFL must accept shipment from an individual. Fastest way to contact me is by email at jrthhw.com but pm's here are fine too.

The .270 was mine and it's a very nice rifle and accounted for many hogs with 130 Gr. TSX's. I never shot it for groups, but looks like Joe did and it shoots pretty good. Ray Montgomery is a great smith and you can definitely tell it by the trued action and boltface and the nice protected crown. I'd buy it back, but I already spent the money on another project.

Somebody is going to get a good one. Only reason I sold it was because I was trying to whittle everything down to 3 or 4 calibers.

And buy with confidence from Joe Traylor. I sold and bought from him and he's good to go.

Had a few questions - barrel on the .264 is 26 inches and the gun with scope is about 8 1/2 lbs. I don't know the twist, but will email original owner to see if he knows. It spins 120's and 130's beautifully and I haven't tried the 140's. Also, the trigger on the .264 breaks right at 42 oz on my scale which is a little over 2 1/2 lbs. I prefer a lighter trigger around 1 1/2 lbs, but this one is so crisp I haven't messed with it.

Not interested in trades at this time, but thanks for asking - would prefer a donation towards the new McWhorter smile

Definitely some nice rifles. The 270 was a deal.

So you're going to go with McWhorter's 270 Wby? They are some bad a$$ rifles. I'd be guessing but would think they're some of the best in the country if not the world. He and Allen build some shooting machines.

When ya get tired of it how about a heads up? grin
I'm sure we can at least get ya half your money back.... wink

I'm going with his 6.5 Weatherby. My guess is I'll probably keep my overstocked safe sell-off going and buy another McWhorter or two. They are awesome guns.

The 1999 action, is this their long action? What is length of the magazine? I ask because they have different length ones for the long action.
Thanks, Jeff

Yes, it's a long action. To my knowledge they only make one long action although they do make different length magazine boxes. This one has a 3.425 inch magazine box which is plenty long for everything I loaded (I loaded everything at 3.340). I'm sure you could get a different length box from MRC if you needed it.
