The .270 Win 130 grain blue box bullets from a few years ago had an exposed lead tip that extended forward of the jacket about 1/8" or so. The current loads have a different bullet, the copper comes all the way to the point flush with the flat exposed lead tip. What is this new bullet, it looks like a Rem Core Lokt or a Speer Grand Slam? Whatever they are, my rifle likes them enough to hold MOA for 5 shots at 300 yard targets. I'm trying to get a feel for how tough or expansive they are? Will they pass through deer and hogs most of the time?
I don't know other that what they load for 150 gr SP in the 7mm Remington Mag and the 225 gr SP in the 338 Winchester appear to be Speer SP bullets. Both loads shoot well and perform well on game.

The 80 gr. .243 Powershok load is listed as a Hot Core, but it used to be listed as a Sierra Pro Hunter.I'm convinced it still is, cause I've handloaded the HotCores, and the factory round does not look at all like a Hot Core.Either way it shoots very well out of my rifle.

the federal blue box stuff has been my "Sleeper" ammo now for awhile. i use it in my .243, .280 and need to try it in my .7-08 yet. when i had my 7mm rem mag and my 30-06 it shot as well group wise as fed premium with the sierra game kings. you could find that stuff (blue box federal) everywhere and Cheap. now you guys are "letting the cat out of the bag". it shoots beyond well out of every gun/caliber i have used it in.
Ditto! My 270 loves it. Deer... not so much. They hit like a hammer and group excellent. I always thought it was a Speer Bullet as well. Been using the stuff since 95 in it. Box has changed and the bullet looks a little different but the groups and on game performance have been the same.
I love the Federal Blue Box ammo. I've been using it for a several years from my .30-06. It would be hard to beat the accuracy of this round and it performs great on deer. In my opinion, it is on the soft side but it passes through most of the time. I'd compare it to a Corelokt. Like others have said, don't tell anybody how good this bullets are because I like the $13.97 price tag on them. As for the bullet, Federal told me in an email last year that it was an in house bullet and that it was not a Speer bullet.
Two years ago when taking the factory tour at the Sierra plant in Missouri (very worthwhile, by the way) I saw several large crates of bullets that were "going to Federal." I suspect that Federal buys bullets from a variety of sources that are not always from the same cooperate family.
