TZone & Colorado.... I'm just lucky where I live. Walleyes are the one thing we do have. The big boat will be coming out in a couple of weeks. That's when the fun really starts.

You are not the only one Ryan. The last walleye I caught was last year. It was so small I could have used it for bait.

Yeah like buchy said be careful out there fellas. How is this going to effect the big pike flat fishing? I was planning on coming up this weekend and driving out. Good idea or no?

the water is bound to drain under the ice soon. we moved the houses in closer to shore, about 8 ft of water. we found a spot that didn't have standing water on top of the ice & parked the houses there.

you can drive anywhere on the lake with a truck now.

Oh I have great walleye fishing, just haven't done it for a while.

I'm going to get the boat out this weekend if I can cooridinate schedules with the guy where I keep it. I haven't been down to the river to get reports, but the boy are on the water.

The problem is....I'm retarded. I left all my tackle at northern_dave's house when I was up there a few weeks ago. crazy He's shipping back whatever they didn't sell off or give away. All I need is jigs. grin

You'll really like those max gaps from Lindy, buschy. They really hold the fish.

Wow, what a mess.

How much ice is left Dave? We don't have much in the areas we have it. I sure wouldn't walk on it let along drive on it.

Do you have to bust that house loose every couple days?

Dave, does MN have a date that all shanties like yours must be off the ice like WI does?

Here's the info from the WI DNR web site posted back in February:

MADISON The first of a number of deadlines for ice anglers to remove ice fishing shelters from inland and boundary waters is this weekend. All ice fishing shelters must be removed from Wisconsin-Iowa boundary waters by Feb. 20. This earlier date, affecting the Mississippi River south of the Minnesota-Iowa border, is set to correspond with Iowa regulations.

The deadlines for the other two boundary waters are March 1 for Wisconsin-Minnesota boundary waters and March 15 for Wisconsin-Michigan boundary waters.

The regulations for removing ice shanties from inland Wisconsin waters changed in 2008.

The law now requires ice fishing shelters must be removed daily and when not occupied after the first Sunday following March 1 for waters south of Highway 64 and after the first Sunday following March 12 for waters north of Highway 64. For 2010, those dates are:

Sunday, March 7 for waters south of Highway 64.
Sunday, March 14 for waters north of Highway 64.

For the record Hyw 64 is about 30 miles North of Tzone.

If they don't have them off now, they're screwed. With temps in the high 40's and all this rain, those shacks left up there will be good as gone.

That ice will be junk. All soft and punky like a rotten tree. Good on the surface, but that's about it.

Where Dave is, there was about 30+" of ice when I was there a few weeks ago, so I'd say they're safe for a while yet.

yeah we're good for a while yet. we don't have to have them off lake of the woods till the end of the month. the rest of the state should have had them off by now I think.

I know that south of hwy 2 they should have had them off by now, north of 2 might be this weekend (deadline) and we get till the end of the month up here.

I don't think I've seen a northern that big before. Musky, but not a northern. That's just huge.
