Scott I can relate. It's becoming a huge challenge for me to make these extensive travel distances to hunt. Money, manpower and work coverage are all obstacles for me. If it's more than a hundred miles and 2 days it presents a real challenge for me. Just this week I lost half of my staff at work. Guess who picks up the slack?...UGH! Then we are also coming into BQQ competition season, which is my other out. Going to be forced to cut back on some of those as well.
Current times are dictating what I can and cannot do..Except for my annual August trip to Sitka...Nothing will interfere with that.
My solution----With 4 other pards I'm buying a local SC 200 acre farm 30 miles from my home that backs to 55,000 acres of WMA. I can at least grow and shoot food.

What are the particulars regarding this get together? Where? When? How much $? Are there any openings left? Can I bring my travel trailer?
Do I actually have to kill a hog? I've hunted hogs in TX several times and I don't like the taste of the meat. But I do like the idea of getting together around a campfire.

Finally decided here. I will be bringing my boat paddle .223 running TSX's. Then probably my 870, and also my Raging Hornet for a bit of predator hunting.
Of course since I am driving over I will likely have my 1911 too.

Maybe my Kimber 223 instead of the 243,though. Not bringing any loaded rounds?  You going to throw those bullets at critters? My Dad used to take 3 shotgun shells out pheasant hunting, but he would always get his 3 birds. I'll admit I am not that good with a scattergun.
