Crap! How come I never get deals like that? The scope is worth double what you paid for the whole works.

I'm happy for you, BUT I'M REALLY PISSED! wink

Trust me. I was due for something good to happen. After a 29 year relationship ended 3 months ago and having to sell several guns and an almost new Toyota Tacoma to clean up bills it was about time that something went my way. I had a hole in my gun cabinet where my Rem. Sendero SFII used to sit. Every time I walked by and saw that hole it tore me up. But now that hole is filled up with a new toy and things seem better.

This thread prompted me to get out my 700 mountain 7x57 last night. What a sweet little rifle! I changed to super low rings so I had an excuse to take it behind the house and sight in. The 145 grain Speer Hot Cors make into a light recoiling load that is fun and easy to shoot.

By the way, I put those super low Leupold rings into the Burris bases that were already on the gun. The Leupold 2-7x33 barely had enough clearance, and I mean BARELY. The bolt handle actually contacts the ocular bell on cycling, but not too bad. I had to file the screw on the magnification adjustment ring for enough clearance between it and the rear base. The objective bell barely misses the front edge of the front base. It's really tight but I like my scopes mounted low as possible.

Love those Mt. rifles, here is mine in 7x57 with Leupold 2x7.
Sounds very similar to yours Big Redhead. Have two more, 1 in 30-06 and another in 260. Just need one in 280 now!

Well in that case...you suck. grin With all due respect.

kenster,

Yep, that's the one. The only difference is yours wears Leupold bases. Sweet little rifle.

I've got the stock off mine now but once I get it redone I'll post up a pic but it looks just like that one. I think I'm going to take the Redfield one piece base and rings off and put some of those lightweight Talley's on. And I think I'll take that Leupold 3.5-10 off and either put a 2-7 or a M8 4X on.

I have a 7 x 57 Winchester Fearther weight. I would recommend a 150 grain bullet of your choice with 760/RL19 or IMR 4350. Start at bottom and work up. I would use a magnum primer if 760 proves out to be your preferred powder choice.Good luck, it's a great round for deer.
