The mighty 'ringo tom was raising too much hell with the resident farmcat herd so it was time to go. 300WSM with a 175 grain Nosler Custom Comp impacting head on at about 2900 fps. And yeah, I took a very tasteful trophy pic the next morning......(grin)

Dober, it's a locals only draw......(grin)
I've shot a grand total of maybe 4 tomcats in the last 20 years(and they all had it coming, direct orders from above). Mostly a 22lr, the WSM has a little more punch to it!

I drove through Jordan/Lewistown on the drive back here.
One of us needs to hit the powerball and buy a little land out there. A rancher had 5 or 6 yotes strung up on the fence right off the highway, shoulda took a pic.

One of these days we'll have to trade fence line stories, off line would be best...<g>

There are a few in the area, saw one go through town on a lowboy, lot's of JD and Case. My dad has a couple Versatiles's and they have been very good tractors. I hooked up Sirius radio in one and that helps ALOT!

I was gonna ask about the Versitile, my Granddad bought one of the first ones that made it to SD, probably about 70 or 71 I'd guess

Good deal Sam!
From the looks of it, the 175 Nosler comp bullet is pretty fur friendly?
Rug, full body, or sell at the next fur sale?

Cool!
I've always liked the full sneak on the milk pan mount...
A few years ago in the member photo section of the Varmint Hunter Magazine, some guy was posed holding a dead stub-tailed fat orange tabby by the hind legs. The funny part was the serious look on the guy's face. No smile or anything to make it look like a joke. In the description the tabby was listed as a bobcat! I had to wonder if the guy really thought he killed a bobcat. Funny as hell!

Did you happen to weight that big boy? I've only ever shot females and with smaller cals but the effect was the same. Good work.
Art In life you will find that constants aren't and variables won't. Life is like a sewer, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

I'd say the 'ringo tom weighed 15-18lbs.
Almost couldn't bring myself to shoot him, but he was being nasty.

I have whacked many a tom and there is just something gratifying about thining the herd around the ol barn. Good shootin'.
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.
True fair chase is you in the woods buttnaked with nothing but your finger nails and teeth.
