I put mine in an Compact Edge. I like the feel a little better, but I have big hands so the other stock was fine for me too.

Lookswise, I think the shorter Compact stock makes the barrel look a little longer. With the 22" barrel and the length of the original stock I think the rifle looks a little carbine-ish. So I think it upgrades the looks too.

Weight - I'd only be guessing but it feels lighter. 1/4 pound?

Maybe I can snap a pic later.

Waiting on a McMillan HTG stock for mine. I didn't go with the edge tech though.

While I don't own an EW yet, I have looked them over very thoroughly on several occasions. I have the same observation, that on standard short action and long action cals the 22" barrel looks too short(carbine like) for that stock configuration. If you ever look at an EW 300 WSM, the forearm of the stock is actually quite a bit shorter than one chambered in any standard cal. That's one thing I noticed when looking at a 30-06 and 300 WSM side by side. Plus the barrel length on a 300 WSM is 24" opposed to the 22" on standard cals. With the longer barrel and shorter forearm, the short mags look more proportionally correct.

I have a new EW in 300WSM, and I have a McM Supergrade with Edge fill that I bought for a Classic WSM. I plan to install the EW in it, but it is not a drop in - requires some minor inletting in the bolt release area and additional inletting for the 1pc floorplate. Prior to those mod's, the weight difference is 5.5oz - can't imagine the mod's will change that much, maybe another 0.5oz???

I weighed the bbl'd action (with Talley extra lows and Leupold VX3 3.5-10X40) with the stock, and it was 7lb 7.8oz. My original plan was a 2.5-8X36, which would have put it ~7lb 6.6oz.

I got a X-Mas Sale compact EDGE on order for my EW 30-06. I can't wait until I have it all put together and take it to the woods! Those new Model 70s are something else.

Be sure to show the pictures I have been considering the same thing in a 308 or 270.

That Hunters Edge looks awesome on there. Should make quite the set-up, what are you going to run for optics?

Love the way it looks now! How do the different wrists feel? Is the Hunters Edge slimmer?
