In the 1920's we had the .276 which was rejected in favor of the 30-06. Now we have the 6.8mm. Now thats progress!
And it only took 80 years.

I see the irony too. Post WWII the Brit .280 was slam dunked by US military thinking as too small and the 7.62 (308) was bulled through only to be soon replaced by the 5.56 by the gee whiz gurus.

I wonder how if the odd diameter (6.8mm) is due to face saving about turning down the 280 (7mm) 50 years ago?

Anyway..sounds like an interesting little round that would make a good light deer rifle.

Takujualak,
I was just thinking about you. I was reading a book about how the Germans fighting in the Russian Front had to rinse their bolts off in gasoline in order to prevent misfires in the brutally cold winters. Last year I forgot to take this advice and we had - 17 temps and I had a misfire for the first time in my life. What did you decide to do with your rifles?
We are having a heat wave here it was four degrees above zero this morning.

Stripping all oil from bolt/trigger assembly is a start. I use white gas and a tooth brush. I use graphite on the bolt-way and away I go.

Went buffalo hunting two days ago at -35 and they were damn skittish but the Norma was ready. Looking for a calf..a big male would have been easy. No clear shot presented itself but maybe next time.
