I heard .270s make good grouse guns.....  Ingwe I'm not sure, is a 270 even accurate enough to hit a grouse?

7mm and 6.5mm have it all over the 270.
That said I'm a 25 caliber slut and if I can't do it with a 25 caliber the JUMP to 270 ain't gonna help anything.
I'd sooner run a 7mm08 over a 270 But we was talking about cartridges, not caliber. It's a package deal, including the rifle, ya' know?........ Casey

Surprised nobody commented on the 30-06 beeing better than the .270. You guys are all confused. Dober calls the 270 "a 30-06 improved". I've always called it an "efficient magnum"....no need for a belt or loooong barrel...... Casey

It would be, but it went the way of all the other 270's. Thinking extinction is on the horizon for the 270.

You guys are good entertainment this evening but at the moment I gotta go wash an evening of walnut dust off. Been sawing some of the prettiest walnut logs I've seen in a while.
BTW for the ideal 6.5, carrying weight, smooooooth works the 6.5X54 in a 1903 mannlicher would be hard to beat. Works for anything I have found around here anyway.
