What are your opinions of it? Please let us not compare it to guns 2x-3x the price. It is not fair. But for the price is it a decent plinking gun? Also this is the standard model (still on law away) can it shoot shorts and loangs along with LRs?

Well, yes since most .22 Lever actions HAVE been made from steel and the Henry is not, you pretty mauch HAVE to compare to to what else is out there. Also, your statment about the all steel guns being 2-3 times the price is simply not accurate. A NIB Henry standrd model costs about $275 most places and a NIB current Marlin m39 or Browning BL-22 is about $550+ so its only double the cost of the Henry.

Basically, the Henry receiver and receiver cover is made from a ZAMAC zinc alloy casting that is painted. If you look at it logically, the Henry is sort of the 10/22 of Leverguns. And that ain't all bad.

Are the guns "heirloom" quality? No. Are they a good value for the 2010 dollar? I would say YES. They have decent build quality and real walnut stocks. Their customer service is great.

If the gun does not shoot decently they will make it right. The gun will do more than just serve as a plinker, it should work well as an all around .22 lever.

jim62 hit it right on the head. I bought a Henry lever action .22 about five years ago, and love it. For my money, they're tough to beat and accurate to boot! (And, yes, by the way, I previously owned a Marlin Model 39.)

I really like my buddy's Henry but I can't shoot partridge sights.

IMO, the are not a good gun. I have owned one and it didn't feed worth a damm. I have nothing against a well-made alloy/plastic gun as long as it is built heavy enough to withstand whatever it is chambered for. I think the Henry is, so that isn't an issue with me. Not feeding is a BIG issue with me however. I also think they are overpriced for what you are getting. If Henry could've kept the price down below $200 for their base model, they'd have a whole lot more sales. When they got above $250, they priced themselves out of a big market. Most guys would rather have a used Marlin for less than a hundred dollars more-which is very doable at a decent-sized gunshow.

The Henry is a good gun for the money, but you are right they do not compare to the Marlin or the Browning. The Henry is not even in the same league.

It is a good gun and a good value, I have one, but when I grab a lever to go plink with I always grab my BL-22.
