Great photo Kurt! That country looks a little familiar for some reason.

Greenhorn who makes that cover on your spotting scope? I have looked at several of the neoprene ones but that one looks very well made. Any idea where you bought it?

vander.. it's a manfrotto tripod, an old one. The cover is made by Swarovski, too much $$ though. I'm sure there are aftermarket covers out there for 1/3 the price.

You suck... And I mean that the nicest way possible That little snowstorm we had yesterday made for some interesting conditions. I ended up getting the truck stuck 3 times getting into 'Plan A' Then I got a mile in (and 2100' down) and fell in the creek I was fording. So I went back to the truck before I froze... 'Plan B' was still snowed in pretty good, nothing greened up, so I assume no bears... Plan C was to come home and drink a 6er Tomorrow I'll head back to 'Plan A' from the South end, which requires NO FORDING of creeks and pull an overnighter.

I've seen 5 over here in the last week. No spring draw for me, so I am off to Idaho for a 4 day weekend next Friday.
None were near snow line, and none were in the cuts or on roads. All have been in natural meadows or grass patches. Most moving A LOT and are difficult to re-spot in the thick stuff.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

The little woman is leaving town tomorrow and the weather is keeping me from working in the woods... Good thing it won't keep me from recreating in the woods, I've got 2 weeks without a "real" schedule. Thought I'd be seeing more grass on the mountainsides by now though. Not much in the bottoms even - the ones who woke up already must be powerful hungry!

I saw a smaller bear on the highway just outside Seeley Lake this morning. Hoping I can get out this weekend.

Hope you Montana guys can get the weather under control by the 18th of May. That's when I start bear hunting then.
Dober, very generously, provided great advice and some articles he wrote on bear hunting and I plan to use his info extensively. Just did not plan on wearing snow shoes.
Should be interesting.
