I bought a slightly used stainless Remington 700 bdl in 7mm SAUM last winter, I've got a habit of liking odd or less popular cartridges. I load my
.260 Rem with 120gr TTSX for deer and my .35 Whelen with 225gr TSX for moose so I figure my 7 SAUM will be my "in between, do it all" rifle. My plan is to load it with 150gr TTSX.

I have a bunch of 154gr Hornady IL on hand so I used those to give me an idea of which powder to use with the 150gr TTSX. So here are my results using RL19, RL22, H414, H4350 and H4831sc.

I think RL22 is going to be the winner.

RL19
60gr.......2964fps
60.5gr....2994fps
61gr.......3046fps
61.5gr....3052fps
62gr.......3073fps

RL22

61gr.......3010fps
61.5gr....3059fps
62gr.......3071fps
62.5gr....Could not chamber!?!
63gr......3096fps
[Linked Image]

H414

55.5gr.......2982fps
56gr..........2956fps
56.5gr.......2967fps
57gr..........2994fps
57.5gr.......2996fps
[Linked Image]

H4350

54.5gr.......2809fps
55gr..........2828fps
55.5gr.......2858fps
56gr.........2902fps
56.5gr.......2943fps
[Linked Image]

H4831sc

60.5gr.......2908fps
61gr.........2943fps
61.5gr......2961fps *pressure signs*
62gr.........2966fps *pressure signs*
62.5gr...... Not fired

Your experience mirrors mine. 62gr R-22 BUT with the 140 Accubond or the 145 Speer.

Very nice, I'm a fellow SAUM lover and I have a Model 7 Magnum Stainless in 300 SAUM which I love dearly, I also have a Ruger M77 MKII All Weather chambered in 7MM SAUM. Unfortunately I can't afford a scope for that badboy yet so I haven't done any load development for it but I will share with you as soon as I do.

just used 160 accubonds with rl17 56grns and shot 5 groups in a row under .600 " at one hundred yds fps is 2785. 3 shot groups .

trying 150 grn nosler partitions next week i had them at 3000 fps with rl17 but did not get the accuracy i was after .

i will let you know what load works best when i find out .

I think you can get any of those powders to shoot well. I am assuming that is a ladder test?

Somewhat of an abbreviated ladder test. I have lots of powders that are suitable for this cartridge so I wanted to narrow it down for velocity and accuracy potential. Looks like RL22 is the choice on both counts.

I have a model 7 that I had rebarreled because the factory barrel had a lot of rough spots in it and the chamber had a flaw that made marks in the brass. I now have a Lilja barrel on it. Regardless, it shoots the 140 Sierra boattail very well with 60 grains of IMR 4831 and Federal 210M primers.

By the way, the rifle I'm holding in the picture is the 7 SAUM. Restocked, rebarreled, coated by Mark Bansner.

My 7 SAUM loves Re 22 under a 160 Partition but H4350 under a 140 Partition.

Good speeds BTW on the 154.

I'll have to look into messing around with RL22, but man do I have a rockin' load with 150 BT's and H4831.

How much H4831?

With the 140 H4831 was a really accurate but slow as heck. I'm going to chrono the 160 H 4831 load soon. It was fairly accurate as well.

With a 150 gr. core lokt and 66 grs. of H-1000 I got 2966 f.p.s. out of my 700. 67 grs. of the same powder gave me a little over 3000 f.p.s. with a 150 gr. nosler. 58 grs. of H-4350 with a 140 gr. accubond gave almost 3200 f.p.s. All of these loads shot really well too.

62 grs. gets me 2935 fps out of my 22" barrel. I can mash the pedal a bit more, but why?
