Speer found that the current 2400 powder gives more velocity by allowing one to use more of it if CCI 300's were used than if one used CCI 350's. That's why Alliant recomends the CCI 300, not the 350, when using their 2400 powder. E

Personally, I use the Winchester Large pistol primers for every powder I use in my 45 Colt, makes life pretty simple. Les I made recent tests with the WLP and found groups opened a lot with the .45. They have still too much pressure. Keep the heat and lose the pressure to tighten groups.

may have to do that, as my Vaquero gives me fist sized groups at 50 yards with heavy loads. What primers do you recommend?
