I have a Cabela's self inflating sleeping pad. Not real old and not used excessively. No punctures, but a side seam weld came apart. Only open about an inch but looks like it could open to 4 inches. Dang Chinese made crap. Just want to make it functional. How would one re-weld that seam?

Thermarest sells a heat activated patch kit. You first clean the area around the hole and let it dry. Then boil a pot of water. Apply the adhesive to the patch and place it over the hole. Then set the pot of boiling water on the patch and leave it alone. In your case you won't need the patch, just the adhesive, and you may need extra weight on top of the pot.

I'd use a healthy dose of McNett Seam Grip and let it dry sandwiched between some books or similar.

When you repair the seam as described above, be prepared for other holes in the seam to appear. That seam is welded together with glue/adhesive that apparently is not doing the job as intended. It could be from heat from a fire or a bad batch. I would send it back, have it replaced. Nothing worse than waking up around midnight cold and touching the ground.

x3 cabelas is very good with thier returns, and I would not hesitate to send it back, what you describe falls under manufacturing defect IMO, and should be replaced easily!

Cabela's said they have a 1 year warranty. Customer Service has gond to the birds. Not even a good response from them unfortunately. I will try the seam seal.
I think you guys nailed it bad seam weld. Hasn't been abused or even used much at all.
Thanks for the ideas!
