I think you just cost me 12 hundred bucks. Nice going. Now I've got to start practicing my "what this old thing honey" speach that I learned from my grandpa.

How is it that we missed this one? How many are being made? I rely mostly on my 1B anyway so I'll probably pass on this one but gents we were all surprised when the 264 Mag came out too. Intelligence failures! Right here in River City!
I sold off my SS Bob as I have most all the other SSs I once owned. The .375 H&H will stay. And, it looks like my 7mm-08 SS laminate 1B will be returning to the fold. The guy I sold it to got over extended when he lost his overtime. He's a good friend, sooo... I never hunted with it, in part because Ruger put a high gloss -- better high glare -- stainless finish on it. Maybe I'll have it sand-blasted. Loaded with 120 grain BTs out of the 26" barrel it could be a screaming flat shooter on our small deer at longer range.

I wonder how much the "high polish" blue will differ from the standard finish.

I like them in the blued barrel. The stainless for me is a struggle between old world classic and modern. Walnut and blue fit best in the #1's.

+2 on the Blue/Walnut... I went thru a craze a few years ago when I went nuts over laminated stocks.... But good sense finally took over. Altho' I have 3 SS #1's. Two ltd Ed. Lipsey's specials in 6.5x55 and .35 Whelen. (Two chamberings I've desperately wanted for years in the #1) And a .405 Win... Another severe craving in a #1. Edw

agree on the blue and walnut... I've got a stainless because of the caliber I'm old school according to some that know me and I've had both blued and stainless ,but I've gotta say that I'm a sucker for a K1-A.

Dang GH, you're putting me to looking at the #1's again. What in the world would anybody possibly want with a .405 #1 and where can I get one. You sho' nuff messin with my head. schoolmarm I went thru a period a few years ago, where whenever I got a new repeating rifle, I had to have a #1 in the same chambering... I've kind of gotten over it now, but I came up with some unique altered #1's. At one time I think I had 32 #1's, but have trimmed them down now by about 1/3.... But still have a 1-A in 8x57 Mauser, 1-B in .257 Robts w/23 5/8" bbl. And a 1-B in 9.3x62 w/ 23 5/8" bbl... I commissioned a .405 Win to be built on a Browning B-78 action, but I got tired of waiting, and purchased the #1. I normally would not have bought stainless, but I got it from my dealer, as it was his personal gun. Then, of course, Ruger dropped the .405 in SS, so I kept it... (Still don't have the .405 Browning back, as yet) Now, I believe Ruger has dropped the .405 in the Blue/Walnut, as well... If I ever get the opportunity to pick up a blue/ Walnut .405, then this SS one will be for sale... I had to have a companion to my 1895 Win, you know... Edw

No word on how may of the 257's are being built but supposed to be ready to start shipping the end of July. We'll see. Have an order in for one when they are avialable and should be hearing how many will be available.

Well, cancel my previous. Have a 257 1a in hand. That leaves 249. Pics man, pics!!! Is it finished in high polish blue? Upgraded wood? Got a price quote from my dealer today and some pics would help me decide to jump or not. I hesitate only because I have two bolt guns in 257 Bob already.

Ya know, I asked when I got the phone call upon it's arival about the high polish blue. There was a pause on the other end as Bob was wondering wtf I was talking about. He got collected and said it looked like any other blue & walnut 1a. I went back and looked at Lipsey's last night and noticed that comment was missing from the description, I know why. The wood is slightly above average, better than some I have seen lately though.
I'll get a pic tommorrow, honeydo's was the operative word today.
