Here are three knives that I ordered a while back from Wayne Hendrix. The quality is top notch and prices IMO for this nice of work are very reasonable. Unfortunately, the pictures don't do them justice. Blade steel is ATS-34, 1/8" thick, full tapered tangs. Each knife came with a simple but very nicely done custom sheath made by Wayne's wife, Ruby. They are scary sharp and will pop the hairs off your arm with little effort. As has been mentioned in the past on the campfire, I believe by Mr. Barsness, Wayne's mentor was George Herron. I have always loved George Herron's designs and you can definately see the Herron influence in Wayne's knives. Wayne will make a knife with just about any handle material you want. I took the liberty to acquire the handle materials for these knives myself and then sent the scales to Wayne. Top: # 13 Semi-skinner, Himalayan ram's horn Center: #1 Semi-skinner, Merino ram's horn Bottom: #13 Semi-skinner, Sambar stag. The economy has really hit knife makers hard according to Wayne, fortunately, for the outdoorsman looking to have a custom knife made that means short wait times(I ordered the Stag handled knife this time last year and received it in Feb. Liked it so much that I thought I'd order another for myself and one for my dad - they both showed up yesterday, WOW!). Kinda put a crimp in my pocketbook for this month, I'll survive. I'm pleased to say the least. Wayne's website is: www.hendrixknives.comOrdering is best done by phone though because Wayne doesn't like using the computer(If you call him and leave a message he will get back to you within a day or two). Wayne Hendrix makes great knives. His designs, materials, and workmanship are all first rate. Your knives are really nice examples of his outstanding work.

Great looking group. Once again, if "I" had to choose it would be a toss up!

Vince,
I really like the #1 but honestly, the #13 is a little nicer, IMO. The rounded butt of the #13 handle fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and I feel like I have better control(grip) of the knife than with the #1. Having said that, the nice thing about the #1 is the sheep horn handle. As you may know, sheep horn gets a bit tacky when wet and really aids in griping the handle.
If I were ever forced to part with one of these I think I would keep the #1 and the stag-handled #13 and let the other sheephorn #13 go.
Hopefully that doesn't ever happen; they are all very, very nice!
IMO, Wayne's semi-skinners are the perfect design for a hunting knife that's going to get bloodied lots.

Thanks for your reply Lefty The reason I asked, was I've owned the 13 & the other one he called the "S" knife (thats the smaller ss style, based on the Canadian Belt knife & designed by both Wayne & George Herron And,I recently picked up a #1,it'll be the first Hendrix I've tried w/ a guard.I should have it next week,it was a good deal I could not pass on.It's not like I could not live w/out it,but w/ the 2010 blade stamp on it &curly maple,it said "buy me" I'll let you know what I think Another favorite I've tried, the #16 !! Nice ones Leftybolt, -Vince

I bought these two from VinceM and they are very nicely made, especially for the money.
