JOG, It's strange what things will call up the shades ain't it. Years back I stopped by my (maternal) grandparents old house on Lake Worth. Just wanted to remember the boat house and dock now fallen in.
There was a concret slab poured at the front door whit "Jim- Bill-Frank scratched in surface and the date 1956. They were my unkles and all gone now.
The Lady living there, when she finally answered the door, had always wonderd who those people were. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Birdy it makes you sad to think what our kids will have to remember in fifty years don't it?

I brought the name with me from shooters.com.
It's a multiple pun. Once upon I time I poked a .458-sized hole in one of the Rio Grande bulls that Wooters and Aagaard used to write about; more large male bovines are on the agenda. Occasionally I shoot in formal rifle competition with a printed black circle as the target. The rest of the puns relate to the oral and written discourse in which my friends accuse me of engaging too frequently. --Bob

Many thanks to all who replied. It is always a fun thing for me to actually hear what is the significance of the user names after seeing them so many times. This group have some very, very interesting backgrounds and I for one would love to read a book on a collection of them.
Thanks again to all.

I was trying to come up with a name on ebay, of all places, to make an account and kept trying and I kept thinking of those ?'s they ask you (favorite stuff, ect. ) and I enjoyed fishing and I was in the market for a new pair of hunting boots at the time and wha la! ..Bootsfishing ...but the neat thing about it is, that I realized after, my father's nickname is Boots......so I proudly get to carry on his name.....(he's still living and thinks it's a hoot.....)....Boots

because...
1- I desperately wanted a big non-typical muley for my wall... and kept trying the first few yrs of big game hunting (it's only been about 8 total); finally last yr my 12 yr old daughter got a beauty (that was even better than me getting one)
2- I try to think unconventionally, and am happy to run against majority opinion on a forum/thread... which sometimes raises hackles...

I think my handle had its origin in west Texas where I grew up.-------we saw a hell of a lot more muddy water than clear water.

Well, my name "AggieDog" really should be pronounced "AuggieDog" and maybe spelled that way. I expect ole Ken to lecture me any day now on my spelling.
It was the name I was given when I was in the 17th Cav, 82nd Airborne div. Usually, most had a nickname that someone gave you, and mine stuck in the Army. Remember the cartoon character Auggie Dog, and Doggy Daddy? OH Heck, anyway, that was my army nickname.

Rusty Gunn - because I figured it was a cool enough alias to go with and I don't care much for rusty guns. ~~~Suluuq (my Inupiaq Eskimo name. Named after my grand father. I've a young nephew with this name, too. It refers to the fletchings on an arrow.) www.nwab/arcticraft/donferguson/index.htm

I'm a great fan of the .41 Remington Magnum and also greatly enjoyed Elmer Keith's writing. I call it the .41 Keith to honor him.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. -- Daniel Webster

I was born and raised in western Pa were I spent more time hunting, fishing and traping then being at school.I some how managed the graduate highschool and enlisted in the Air Force. They sent me to Wyoming and I never went back. About the time I started playing on computer's I went to a class reunion and one of my class mates stated that I really had gotten lost. For the record I have never been so lost in the backcountry that they had to come find me.
If you cann't stand my spelling use the ingore feature.

I now own and am very fond of a Borden 280AI. Since most versions of saying 280AI were taken, I just came up with this crazy one.

I have a Sauer in every ones favirote caliber 30-06. The ball came from when I shoot it a ball of flame comes out the end along with a big concussion. It's always fun on the range shooting with those smart azzes that think they know and are everything. :-)) Scares the hellout of them, and they don't bother me or my friends while cap off a couple 100 rounds each. Of course my friends play it up just to ensure they stay away.
