In the thread about scoping a 10-22 for 200 yard .22 plinking, you recommended the SS10X42 from SWFA as having the features wanted right at the price point wanted as well. Ordered one from SWFA on July 17 and it was backordered for 6 weeks. It finally arrived in the mail Friday.

Got it mounted on my 10-22 Tactical Friday night and went to the range Saturday. Had other stuff to do so sort of as an afterthought before leaving I sighted it to zero at 50 yards and then checked how many come ups needed for 100 and 200 yards by sighting in on rocks at the proper distance berms.

As luck would have it the local club had it's Club Championship .22 Silhouette match this morning. They shoot a 100 yard and a 200 yard match. Targets at 40-50-75-100 and 50-100-150-200 respectively.

Using the exact same dope figured on rocks I was able hold center at all ranges and knock over enough targets to tie for 2nd place in the 200 yard match. Not too shabby for a box stock 10-22 with a scope I just met about 36 hours beforehand.

Also bear in mind I haven't shot .22 silhouette of any kind since about 1998. The clicks are obviously very repeatable, the scope is clear and that ocular situated AO really helped with the focus.

Best thing is - I won the 100 yard match outright, and my 200 yard match score combined with my 100 yard match score got me Overall Agg Match Champion!

So, thanks for the scope recommendation. I think I'm gonna like it a lot. grin

Glad to hear it suits ya!

I only have one, in 16X, and like it a lot. I use it mostly on the 308, if I want more elevation travel than I can get out of the MK4 3.5-10X. I think your 10X is the best one for overall use. Loads of erector travel, and good all-around magnification.

I ordered up one of those Bushnell 3200 10X mil/mil scopes and have it on my 10/22. Without parallax control it's pretty blurry at 20 yards, but at 30+ yards it good to go. lots of erector travel, about 23 mils (80 moa). I mounted it on an existing TPS base (0 moa), and used Burris sig rings with a -20 fore, and +20 aft. That gives me 17 mils (about 58.5 moa) "up" from a 70 yard zero, plus five more mils in the reticle. More than enough to take the 22 to 400 yards if I feel like playing long with it.

It makes a decent rig for playing with the mil reticle and mil turrets.Don't know if I'll make the leap to mil/mil on everything, but I'm going to play with it and see how it goes. Kinda nice to have reticle, turrets, and traj table all in the same unit of measure.

Gratz on the match Jim.

How is the trigger on the Tactical 10/22? If it is good it looks to me as if that rig is pretty much an ideal rig straight from the factory.

Thanks. I had a good time and that's the important part.

To answer your quesetion, the triggers are "not bad". Not great, but not bad. I actually have two 10-22's with their target trigger, a 20" Target model and the 16" barrel Tactical. They're a darn sight better than the standard carbine model which breaks at 9 pounds.

The main thing is that both are extremely repeatable.
The 20" breaks at 4 1/4 lbs on the dot, every time, the 16" one breaks at 3 3/4 lbs, again every time. I just measured each one four times in a row and they really don't vary by an ounce.

When breaking it kind of pulls though, not that glass rod break like a good Remington trigger. But with just a little practice it is very controllable. I suppose with a little work these could be made better plus there are all kinds of aftermarket parts out there to try.

Anyway, for a stock Ruger trigger I have no complaints. And both rifles are Accurate with a capital A, but that's another story... wink

Thanks for the evaluation, I have a Volquerson on my 10/22 and am quite happy, but as said, for a factory package this looks very attractive.
