It may not happen, but I put in my plea to Grice's Gun Shop for a 7600 35 Whelen carbine. Stranger things have happened.

I have emailed Grices about doing a 7600 carbine in 358 Winchester several times. Only once did I recieve a reply just thanking me for my interest.
At present I have 7600's in 6mm Remington, 257 Roberts, 7mm-08 Remington, 35 Remington carbine and 35 Whelen. My son has a 7600 in 30-06 carbine.
I put a deposit on the 7600 "cool blue" in 25-06 with Grices a few weeks ago. I had a 7600 in 25-06 in the other gray/black laminate that I also purchased from Grices but hated the stock and used it in a trade for the 257 Roberts. This time I will replace the laminate stoch for a walnut stock and forearm.
I also have a 7400 in 30-06, 7400 280 carbine and a 750 in 35 Whelen carbine.
I shot the 750 yesterday with 250 grain Remington soft points, older ammo, at both 50 and 100 yards. I am taking it on a boar hunt at the end of the month. Nice gun but does not handle as well as the 7600 carbines. It's heavy and not as well balanced. But it put both shots touching each other in the bull. I traded a Remington SP-10 for it from budsgunshop.com. I was never going to use the SP-10 again.
The 35 Rem carbine has become my go to gun. I shot three bucks, two good ones, good ones for where I hunt, with it and love the way it carries.
But as most of us always looking for something new a factory 358 or 35 Whelen carbine would be very cool. Not needed but very cool.

My only hope for a 35 Whelen carbine would be the fact that they have sold alot of 35 Whelens and others have had the carbine made before. If they were to make one, I'd be first in line to get one!

The Cabelas in Buda Texas had one in the used rack a few weeks ago. IIRC they wanted $450 for it.

ran into this the other day in a small country gunshop in PA for a good price. NIB, assembled Feb 25th 2002. original receipt in the box was from 2003. from what i gather its ultra rare. bottom is the whelen. top is a Grice special 35 rem. note the buttstock difference. fancy grip cap. different checking pattern than i've seen on any 7600. The wood fit and finish on this one is nicer than any 7600 i've seen. it must have been made for export or something. the other one earlier in this thread was made in 2004 so somebody must be commissioning runs on these. anybody have any info on these things?

Here is a "Factory" Carbine Whelen that I found NIB!!Got it off a guy that had bought it in 04 or 05 as a Special Run for Vegas Shot Show. Mounted a Vx-3 20mm on it and drilled it for a sling, the rest is history!! Again...Bipod for picture purpose only!!

picked up my remmy 7600 in 35 whelen. blueing is still very good as is the stock. I had not seen the gun for 3 months since I paid for just had not picked it up and in the end it had to be shipped. anyway putting a weaver K3 on it for a scope. the gun did not have the factory sights. where can I get replacements or even better yet something better for iron sight? I bought the gun for deep wood whitetail huting as a stalking rifle. I was thinking of cutting the barrel back to 20 inches but it seems pretty handy right now with the 22 inch barrel. I put a williams rear sight on my 7600 and left the front sight alone. I do pretty well with it. -1 on cutting the barrel down. Is having that barrel shorter going to make you that much stealthier/mobile in tight cover? Just a way to make the rifle louder and it would shorten your sight radius to boot. 22" is a good length in my opinion.

for me its not so much about stealthiness, its more about the handling qualities of the carbines. comparing my pump carbines to my pump rifles and there is a world of difference in handling to me. i don't buy rifles anymore, just carbines, 18.5" and less. plus where i hunt in PA a lot of times i am sitting against a tree with brush around me and having the shorter barrels makes a difference when swinging the gun around. several of the guns i bought lately for me and my boys are sporting 16.5" barrels, ruger frontiers and marlin 336 SDT. they are just the ticket. and don't get me started on the old remington carbines. i have remington factory carbines in models 760, 141 and 14. i love them. so much so that i will be selling most of my rifles and putting the cash towards carbines.

I was only a few hours behind you on that gun.
I was alerted about that gun on the PA hunting forums.
I'm glad that someone else like me got that gun rather than someone who would not appreciate what they found.
Good luck and enjoy your find.
I want a 358 Win carbine or a 35 Whelen carbine.
And like you I realy like the carbine better than the rifles.
Mike.

Mike. thanks, thats where i heard about it too. i called him as soon as he opened on monday and bought it sight unseen. when i picked it up he had a 35 rem factory carbine there too NIB that he actually wanted $50 more for than the Whelen and i almost bought it as well but i already have one. he has a nice selection and good prices. i could spend some money in that place. the whelen will be a treasured part of my collection and only go in the woods on nice days. i am ordering Tally low mounts for it and putting a cheapo 3-9x40 on it for now until i can afford a good scope. look on HPA for a range report in the next few weeks.

rem141r - glad you snagged that 7600 35Whelen Carbine. Hope I get to read your range report on th HPA forum. Many don't believe they even exist. I have one like yours that was made some years later as you have noted already. Mine is the same order number as yours but was made in December 2004 I think. It has the same grip cap and a J lock. Here are both box ends again for comparison displayed together - first mine then yours. And once again here's my synthetic stocked version box end with the better "Non-MonteCarlo" shaped stock. It was made in December 2009 and purchased new by me in April 2010 and is unfired so far. So we have Remington making non cataloged 35Whelen 7600 Carbines in 2002, 2004, and 2009.
