I don't know if your barrel is slow or not but it is definitely 4" shorter than mine which would make a lot of difference. I'm shooting a Ruger #1B which has a 26" barrel.

That's about the same as I get with my 24" KS.

Nsagam, met a man back in college at that towns premier sporting goods store, his rifle of choice, a 26" 270 AI, now that's something you don't see often, but he was wise to take the free speed, since he did not mind it's length.

That may indeed be the case but conversely my 24" barrels have never been lacking in handiness.
I'll take the extra velocity every time since I find zero drawback to a 2" longer tube.
