I am not familiar at all with the AR. Shot one once. When you guys are talking upper and lowers. What is the difference? If I am guessing right I could have one lower and a few different uppers for different rifle configs? ie a slow twist, regular twist carbine length etc. maybe even that 50 Beuwolf or whatever its called?

I'm a newbie myself,but I'v been studying.(On how to spend a lot of money) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Theres less, and more expensive out there, than these.
Heres a LOWER
And an UPPER
Its just 2 pins to pull to separate the two,all of 20-30 seconds to swap out to whatever config you want.

You have the idea. There are a number of other cartridges available for the AR, too. Many pistol cartidges like the 9mm, 10mm, and the 45 ACP. Some of the rifle cartidges you can get uppers for are the 204 Ruger, various 6mm's, 6.8, 6.5 Grendel (my next one), even the 223 wssm and 243 wssm. Lots of versatility here!

Not to mention the semi versions of the 45-70. I have the 50 beowulf and there is the 458 Socom too. So you can go from 22lr way on up the scale.

Rost,
I have a 50 Beowulf too. Have you loaded for yours or use factory ammo. Do you have any ammo/load favorites you would like to share? So far I have shot Lil Gun powder and a 350 Hornady. I have loads for the 300 grain Gold Dot, 275 Barnes and 325 Barnes ready to go for the first dry weekend. All with Lil Gun. I also have more loads for the 350 XTP to finalize and chronograph. That 325 Barnes looks like a Polaris missle! I'll let you know what mine likes.

Hi RickyD

Lets keep in touch. Only thing I've shot yet is lil gun and 325s. Simply a time problem.

I love the looks of the Barnes but won't shoot them till I find a tiny knot producing group with a cheaper bullet first. Too expensive to burn up 100 of them testing....

I am also trying to figure out (extrapolate) info on using a powder that fills the case. I just don't like loose powder. My groups seem to show it too. They are about 1.5 inches at 100. A few shots touch and then you get a flier. Thats typical of many things, including a less than full case.

Save my email at home if you want.

Thanks, Jeff
