Effective August 15, 2010, we are no longer accepting new orders for rifles. Rifle availability will be limited to our current inventory and dealer inventory. The increasing demand for the Ed Brown line of handguns and handgun parts has once again required us to refocus and expand our core business. Rather than compromise quality by subcontracting any work, we have decided to put rifle production on hold indefinitely, and dedicate our entire facility to Ed Brown handguns and parts production. Rifle parts and limited services will remain available.MUST NOT BE SELLING http://edbrown.com/customrifles.htm

Heard about Ed Brown news while back. Prices, attitude & too much competition I'm betting took him out of the game.
Also heard Mcmillan is looking to rent there custom rifles for hunts and the rental cost can go toward the purchase of the rifle if you wish. Sounds like there having the same trouble selling customs.

I've seen more than one business man go down the tube due to their attitude. It happened to me a couple of times.

I took my last active duty check and spent 5300.00 for my Mcmillan rifle. It was the most expensive luxury item I've ever purchased. It was painful. I did not become better looking, and I did not become a better shot. There's a lot to be said for the many who post here, who do it on their own, purchasing the high end parts, and finding a smith to put them together for half the price of what I paid. I think this and the economy is what's killing these companies.

Always thought the Brown rifles were nice, but I don't ever recall anyone raving about there accuracy compared to others.

Back in Virginia where its legal I owned Savage's smokeless MZ. For its intended use, it was a nice enough rifle. With loads it liked, it was the most accurate MZ I had ever owned. Although I will never live to see it, if Colorado ever authorizes it for its MZ season I will purchase another in a heartbeat. Lee

Is there any chance that the truth is actually that they are selling a ton of their pistols and parts, and simply want to meet demand there and make a profit? Who knows if the rifles are selling well without real info?

Who knows if the rifles are selling well without real info? Now isn't that a novel thought? A manufacturer telling the truth about what is happening at his company. I tend to believe Mr. Brown and his statement.

IMHO, exactly like John Burns Greybull stuff, folks are being ripped off all around on many counts. I saw/see it in the AR15 field all the time too... Wilson is one example...

I have had three Ed Brown rifles a .375 H&H on a Dakota action, a .30-06 and a .243 Winchester on Ed Brown actions. All three were are as accurate as any rifle I have shot. Workmanship was flawless.
As far as attitiude goes WTF are you looking for a new best friend or someone to build a quality product.
In my experiences with Ed and his family they do not suffer fools, are confident of their own abilities and experience and stand behind their products.
If you can't improve on silence, shut the #@&% up!

Some folks take no joy in that route. They want it turnkey.
