I've had the same results with factory ammunition. My consistently best experience is with Federal blue box cheap stuff. No luck with Hornady. But I use a lot of their bullets for reloading several calibers and they're very good.
Glad the XL is working out. I've been tempted to try one in 25-06.

If I were you, I'd get a 270 instead of the 25-06. My friend has a 270 "X" gun and it shoots 1.5" groups at 200yds with the first ammo tried in it.

I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

Every report I've read about the X rifles is very good. The accuracy seems to be consistently excellent. I'm on a quarter bore kick right now. At the moment it's the 257 roberts. And I'm all set up to reload for the 25-06. Have a bunch of components, dies and probably 100 rounds loaded. There's always someone on here trying to get me to go over to the dark side with a 270. grin

I have three xs-7's all in 308. One for myself, two for grandsons whose mother won't let them have them, so I will sell them. On mine, I have done less than an inch with handloaded 165gr sierra's and right around an inch with nosler accubond factory ammo. Not only for the money, but in my opinion these rifles will shoot right along any factory produced rifle. I have since painted mine and its a nice light rifle...could not do better for three times the price.

I wouldn't hesitate to run some cheap 165gn Corelocts through it. Seems most rifles will shoot CLs fairly descent if they're worth keeping.

Paid $259.00 ea for 6 at Cabelas, Roundoak yup BTDT same deal.

"Bought mine for a backup or loaner" Super Cub, well Cub, mine shoots to good to ever loan to anybody. Backup? I use it frt line.
XS-7 308 Win likes 150's better than 165's but I've only scratched the surface on load developement so far. Shot both 150 SPBT and 150 SP Hornady's well with just about max dose of TAC. 2 bucks so far and more in frt of it. Magnum Man

I've said that myself many times.
