I have a Marlin 39a, I believe it was made in 1954. No telling how many rounds have been through it. Cycles like new. VERY accurate. Made like a centerfire - tough.

My Marlin 39Golden is a superb rimfire, and I like the feel of a little weight, feels like a rifle ought to. The action was smooth right out of the box.The Winchester 22 just felt and cycled clunky. The Henry, well, just too much plastic for me. It looked and felt cheap.

I think this next winter when some time becomes available along with the newness and wanting to run through a couple hundred rounds a night wears off, I'm going to strip down the wood and give it a nice hand rubbed oil finish.

I'm a happy guy!

Well time made itself available...

I tossed the white spacers on the buttplate and grip cap. [Linked Image]

What a sweet rifle. I'm still a very happy guy!

Beautiful job Muleshoe. I've had at least a half-dozen 39's of different stripes over the years. They are a sweet gun. Beautiful country too.

Very, very, pretty! That's the way they should ship from the factory IMHO. I love the M39 as I've already said. It's a wonderful rifle, just an excellent rifle. You have something special there.

I agree, but if they all came from the factory like that where would all the fun be? Refinishing them is something I really enjoy doing, somehow, this one turned out very nice.

Hope you didn't toss em too far, they are getting about as hard to find as chicken lips.
A far as Henry products go anyone considering a lever gun needs to look closer at Henry and customer service. Go to Rimfire Central and then go to the Henry forum. The big boss has made himself very available to the readers and members for any and all questions and has been very straight forward with answers, and from what I have read their customer service policy is head and shoulders above anyone else. Also from readig that site I believe all the guns with plastic parts
(barrel band etc.) are available with those items in brass, the plastic was done to keep initial cost down.
Just one old farts humble opinion but I am at a point in my life that I put considerable value to good customer service.
