No stupid, I believe a member here used a SS M7 260 20" and bolted up a Mannlicher custom shop stock to make his own M7 MS.
It all depends, but w/custom stock options, there are ways to accomplish this. Not a gunsmith/stock-smith, but if you post more info about a specific config bbl/action others might can offer advice.
Good luck.

Speaking of, if Kimber would make their 84M in a Mannlicher stock option I'd be an owner.
Regardless, that would be a great build for a custom stock maker.

Had a gunsmith friend whittle one out for a SUCKS in 35 Whelen, cut barrel back to 19.5 inches. Still haven't gotten around to getting it checkered.

You can get mannlicher style stocks from Richards MicroFit, but I wouldn't recommend a Richards MicroFit stock to anyone, so that's an issue to overcome.
Wenig makes very nice, very expensive, mannlicher style stocks.
You occasionally come across a factory mannlicher style stock on eBay, Gunbroker, and Auction Arms for the Interarms Mark X Mauser, Remington 7MS, Ruger 77RSI, and post-'64 Winchester 70s. But only occasionally.
Ruger 77RSIs are a lot easier solution, if you like Ruger 77s.
Most factory specs mannlicher stocked rifles come with barrels in the 18.5" to 22" range, so you'd probably need to trim your barrel back too.
I wanted a blued/walnut Ruger 77 RSI in 257 Roberts, but Ruger never cataloged that combination, so I found a 77RL that a fellow from FL had mated with a 77RSI stock. I also wanted a stainless Remington 7MS in 260, but Remington won't make a 7MS with stainless metal, so I mated a 7 stainless barreled acton with a 7MS stock from a rifle that was parted out for the action. I can't think of a more expensive way to get a 7 action, but it has worked well for me!

I once saw a standard rifle stock extended by a wood worker.
He doweled and glued the extension at an angle, much like a fore end tip and capped it off with a factory made metal cap bought from Brownels, I believe. It looked very professional.
Anyone handy with wood skills could cobble something like that together and have whatever barrel length desired....

You can find some pretty interesting rifles on the internet, but you really have to burn your computer up finding them.
Remington make a Full Stock years ago and they are still found for sale every once in a while.
If you find one, jump at the chance, you will not be unhappy.
The older rems were the best as they changed the Full Stock configuration and the early ones were purdy.

I picked one up on E-bay that was inletted for the Sako L579 Forester. Fajen, Wenig, I don't know, but it is some very nice wood, but hard as stone and just about as heavy.

The only mannlicher stocked rifles that Remington has ever cataloged are the 7 MS from the custom shop.
Other than Ruger with the RSI series of 77s and #1s, the only major U.S. manufacturers who have cataloged mannlicher stocked CF rifles are Winchester, with the 70 Mannlicher from 1968-1972(?), and Mossberg, with the 800AM/BM/CM, during the same period, more or less.

Found this one at a pawn shop, worked out a trade that cost me $200. I had it rebarreled to .35 Whelen which cost another $200.

I have 4 Interarms Mark X mannlichers in 260, 7x57(x2), and 9.3x62. I really dislike those made with the buttknife bolt handle that has such a high lift that you have to use medium rings to allow the bolt to cycle. Not so hot about those with DSTs either.

I don't like the butterknife bolt handles either. Never tried the DST's. The trigger on mine is adjustable and works well.

I don't think that I'd mind the butterknife bolt handle if it didn't have such a high rise that it requires you to install higher rings, even when using a scope with a small objective.

You can. It will likely be expensive if you buy a full length blank or semi-inletted blank and have it properly bedded and finished out. I think MPI does a composite mannlicher style. Again, not cheap. One of the challenges beyond cost is getting the bedding exactly right when you're dealing with the full length barrel channel. CZ seems to do it right with great consistency which is why my 7x57 is the FS model. Interarms seems to have done it right too. Good reports from owners. I don't care for the set triggers. Tried them in the woods and not to my taste. Same with the butterknife bolt handles. I love the looks of them but don't care for them in cold conditions, etc.

I've always liked the lines of the older SAKO offerings, way back in the 1960's or so. The newer versions needed a diet! They have a two piece stock, with a forearm joint hidden under the barrel band. It's a good, strong system. They came with 20" barrels and the Forrester, pictured below could be had in .243 and .308....and later the .22-250. Made again today and chambered for the .260 and 7mm-08, they'd be rock stars!

Blacktail - Nice. Great lines and Sako quality. I too prefer the 20 inch barrel. Balances better for me, keeps the muzzle blast out of my face (I notice a difference going from 22' to 20" and am sure it would be even greater trimming to 18") and helps a bit with velocities.
