I have four of his books. Three of them he autographed for my Great Grandfather. I've been reading Wally's stuff since I was a kid. It led to a fascination with Africa, Alaska, and Weatherby rifles (for awhile at least). And Mudhen, I do have his book about the Polar bear hunt.

Not a very flattering reflection on Ken H with his posting of Wally Tabor.

Another wonderful influence that promoted gunny stuff was an exhibition shooter named Herb Parsons. He lived at about the same time as Wally Tabor and Jim Bond.
Parsons traveled the country giving incredible shooting demonstrations at local gun clubs and fairs. I watched him many times and always went away amazed at what the man could do with a firearm.
Interestingly, I was on a Nosler caribou hunt on the Ungava Peninsula several years ago. One of my fellow hunters was a great gentleman of about 80 years of age. After talking to him several times, the subject of Herb Parsons came up ... turned out that the man had been Parsons' teen-aged "gofer" for a couple of years. And he went on to become one of the most successful manufacturing people in the sporting world.
Funny how chance meeting like that happen.

I know this is a very old thread. But if the gun case in question actually said "Wally Tabor" then it didn't belong to the writer, hunter, photographer, and showmen because his name was "Wally Taber".

No argument here, just confused or curious. In my 'memory' (that questionable thing) I thot is was Tabor. Also could there be a MISprint ? I don't know just asking. Jerry

And sometimes it's "F. Wallace Taber". Depends on the book. I think after he became popular he shortened it to "Wally".

The case says. Wally Taber SAFARI model. It's green plastic. It wasn't his, I guess he had a line of products with his name on them. Decent case, I thought it worth ten bucks.
