In a couple short years this young man whose Dad is a friend of mine, has gone from this:

To this: Just turning 16. First with rifle, second with bow.

And grown almost as tall as his Dad in the process.
Way to go my friend!!!!

Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

Please pass along congratulations to the young hunter on the nice buck.

I know I'd be happy to run into a whitetail that size this fall anyway.

Thanks again and all the best in your upcoming hunts battue.

Regards,
Dwayne

My oldest is right in that age range. Things change fast!

Great deer and a couple great photos!

He looks so much like the young Spock in the last Star Trek movie that I simply can't not say it. smile

Not rare for him to spend a couple hours a day shooting his bow and at various yardage. Even at night under the backyard lights, after the school work is finished. Type that deserves for good things to happen.

I don't see any difference.

The size of the rack does not impress me.

I value the time spent in the field as much as I do shooting trophy deer. As a matter of fact, I would rather shoot a small doe as shoot a large buck. The meat tastes better in my opinion.

I'm sure that he had a good place to hunt on posted land that has the opportunity to harvest trophy deer. Take the same kid to the places where I hunt deer - public land and then show me the pictures of the deer he shoots and then I will come back and pat him on the back....

They ought to have a double sided score card for Pope and Young / Boone and Crockett record books in my opinion - one for animals shot on public land and one for animals shot on posted land. Then you would see what the real trophy animals looks like and not just the ones slaughtered on some game farm.

Do you have to work at being such a huge douche bag, or does it just come naturally??

I like the fact that he is wearing a safety harness. Good habits start early. Great job!

That kid presently can and will do future things you can't even dream of accomplishing. While you spend your life shooting small does in your backyard, he will be climbing mountains, some of which will take him on hunts. Again for animals that you can't even dream of taking.

They ought to have a fire score card: Azzholes and Non-azzholes. Presently you're on the A team.
