good one.
I did some serious riding this fall for the first time on my Can-Am 650 behind a fellow with a Honda Ribicon. Both of our machines were '08s. He was very experenced, were as I had mostly only driven on logging roads.Twice he had to put a foot on a tree to push the quad down. Both times it was a piece of cake for me.

Humor apart, interesting thread...I don't know *anything* about quads having never had a use for one... Still don't have a real use for one, but quite fancy one and keep thinking maybe i could find a use if I had one! I would be looking for something like the OP, a reliable but basic, no frills unit, selectable 4WD with an engine in the 350CC to 450CC range.."Honda" seems to be the name I'm hearing locally and thats echoed on these threads to a degree....

Get one Pete, their handy if you have any kind of property to maintenance.
That being said, I feel way more comfortable on a good horse, especially off road.

The only Can-Am that makes my socks go up and down is the Renegade 4x4. I really want one but don't want to pay the 9K it will take to put one in my shed.

Seriously, have you heard something about the 2012 models? I love my Foreman but I need something with IRS. The CanAm 800 is a heavy sob, I was riding with a guy this past fall and he managed to get it hung up on a log so we figured we'll just lift it up and over. WRONG!! We couldn't even lift it up high enough to get it over the log. They look and sound nice but that extra weight, they can keep.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Supposed to be a major changes for 2012.Fuel injection diff lock ect.Haven't heard of a IRS Foreman. Can't see the 500 motor being replaced.
If it does grow it will most likely be liquid cooled.Anything over 500cc I'd want it liquid cooled too.But like the air cooled 500 the way it is.

We have had a 450 Foreman Honda since new in 2004! The electric shift was the big devil but have since got that fixed. It is a very good utility machine. Not so good in the woods without powersteering but it gets the job done.
On the other hand, the Yamaha's we purchased this year are both easy to ride in the woods and you can go all day without muscle fatigue in the shoulders and arms. I just love that power steering, not to mention the extra power those machines have verses the Honda 450.

Are talking the 700 Grizzlies? The only trouble I've had with my 04 ForemanES is bad batteries and front wheel bearings, i'm getting ready to put my 3rd battery in it this year and have changed out the front bearings twice. Not bad really considering the kind of abuse I put mine through over the last 6 years.

All the big framed machines have weight issues. On the Can-Ams 650 and the 800 weight the same, which you would expect since the 800 is just a stroked 650.
Aww logs. You hit them fast enought to slide on your skide plates so your rears can catch, but not so fast as to flip backward. Then there's the winch,if you can't make it.If you were real nice guy,you would chainsaw a gap.
Grizzly 700s have a rep for easy back flips.I have seen a lot more Yamis then Hondas in the bush.
