As long as it's more or less midway between the hands, I'm OK with it. If a rifle comes up with my eye and the sights or scope where it needs to be, I don't complain. On the other hand, my first thought when I reach for tools tend to run to hammers and crescent wrenches..

Unless some very unusual scope is mounted, there normally isn't a lot of difference in balance point.

Or at least that's what I've found, after mounting many scopes on many rifles, and checking the balance before and after.
