I quit using Burris scopes years ago because of warrenty issues. They didnt want to repair any scopes (even though they have a lifetime guarantee) but would offer a upgrade at an additional cost.
Recently sent in a pair of Steiner Peregrine 8x42 binos that were dropped on one objective end. The fall bent the outer ring that holds the lens in place.I called Steiner (Burris) and asked what it would cost to have it replaced. I was told no more than $50, so I sent them in.
A week latter I get a letter saying the binos are no longer made and parts are not available, But as a customer service I could upgrade the binos for an additional cost.Almost $400 to upgrade to a Steiner Merlin!( All Steiner binos were listed at additioal cost) No Thanks!!
I called customer service and was told that none of the parts are available here in the US but he could ship the binos to Germany to have the ring replaced.(Parts are available in Germany but not in The US?)But the cost would not be determined until the binos are back at the Burris facility in Greely.

Sorry Burris and Steiner but I am done with you!!

Send them and if the cost is high, then tell them to keep 'em.

Maybe then it's time to upgrade to Swarovski.

I really like Leupold scopes and their customer service but am not a big fan of their binos. The Gold Rings are nice, but to heavy for me

I had a pair of Steiner Predator 12x 40's. I sent them back for repair probably about 3 times because the spanner lock nut (terminology?) that connects the 2 barrels together looked as if it was cross threaded. It was very easy to move the 2 barrels - little resistance and it appeared to me that this "spanner" lock was the culprit. Anyway, after probably 3 trips to the shop for repairs, they still hadn't repaired it. I had decided to use it for 1 more season, then send them back and tell them to either fix them right or don't return them & I'd get another brand.
It turned out, I lost them in a boat fire and insurance offered to replace them. I decided to try a second pair because I really like the design and I think they are hell for stout.
If the same problem crops up again, I'll give Steiner 1 attempt to get it right then no more.
Just my experience.

Thats a good idea but the binos still function perfectly. If the cost was to high I would be out a good set of binos.

There ya go, just ask Santa for a pair of Swarovski's.

Keep the Burris for back up's or try placing them on 'classifieds. Sorry you dropped them(sucks), I know how ya feel.
