I'm SURE, Littleman.

You and your imaginary friends.

Which is why actual load data for same escapes you?

Congratulations? grin

Jim;

Are you this blind when you hunt? Do you have to have someone else find EVERYTHING in life for you, essentially hand it to you on a platter, even after they've drawn you a freakin' map, painted a picture of it, and set it down in front of you?

Larry was here back in '01. Start searching from there.... if you care to actually do something yourself.

Or, you could, perhaps, READ (with open eyes) a few posts here.

Of course, that'd require you to actually do something, which I am beginning to see as the root problem of why you can't find what it is you are looking for.

The boolit didn't "exist",according to your "experience"...now the load doesn't too.

Like I said, if such data existed, your hero would have posted the data on this very thread.

Since it does not exist.

Nada.

I don't own a 22 K Hornet but I found Big Stick's recipe in less than 2-3 minutes for a load that is only 100FPS slower than 3450. I'm sure in the several years since that post, he has found that extra 100 fps.

Did you ever hear the saying "learn from your mistakes"? I have found its cheaper and faster to learn from someone else's mistakes. From reading Stick's posts he shoots a LOT and he's tried a LOT of different chamberings and combinations so I try to listen (read) to what he posts.

Not a fan boy, just try to learn from those with more experience than myself and it seems Stick shares information with people that aren't idiots.

Figure both Sierra and Barnes list loads that are bumping tightly on 3450ish fps with comparable bullets, again without moly.

Why is it so impossible for you to actually LOOK for yourself? The info you "demand", JeffO, is out there, if you choose to look.

Took all of about 3 minutes to find said load, sans moly, Ruger 20" tube.....

If you keep giving out the hints VA, everyone will be able to find it.......grin

Ditto, and noticed that it was prior to him starting to use moly.....

Just remember that hitting a velocity and hitting a velocity with safe pressures are two very different things.

I realize that but to say it can't be done safetly sounds ignorant to me.

There are so many variables invovled, chamber, brass, temp, etc, etc....

Like I said earlier, I don't own a K Hornet or any Hornet so take what I say with a grain of salt but just because one person says that can't do something, doesn't mean another can't.

I didn't say it can or cannot be done safely. Until I see a pressure trace of that load, I must withhold judgment. It's pointless to argue either way unless the load is tested.

I wasn't talking about you...

On a side note, you were in a lot of those threads where Stick posted his findings..... Why didn't you ask back then and why don't you believe him now..

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my thoughts on it completely.

TTB, if you read my last two posts and your last two, it sure sounds like you were talking to me.

As to why I might not have commented in some long-ago thread, perhaps I was withholding judgment then, too. Regardless, since we have strayed so far from the original posters question, I'm done with this thread.

Rocky and all..

"Big Stick" quoted 3,450FPS with a 33g slug in a 20" barrel with ww-296.

Here is some of Hodgdon's own right from their lab.
Tell me how you get to 3,450 without pressures that wreck thin webbed K Hornet brass 45,000+ CUPs).

30 GR. BAR VG FB IMR IMR 4227 .224" 1.750" 10.8 2241 27,300 CUP 12.0C 2569 30,600 CUP
30 GR. BAR VG FB Winchester 296 .224" 1.750" 11.0 2996 40,200 CUP 11.7 3108 43,100 CUP
30 GR. BAR VG FB Hodgdon H110 .224" 1.750" 11.0 2996 40,200 CUP 11.7 3108 43,100 CUP
30 GR. BAR VG FB Hodgdon Lil'Gun .224" 1.750" 12.7 3150 35,200 CUP 13.5 3332 43,000 CUP
35 GR. HDY V-MAX Hodgdon H4227 .224" 1.725" 11.0 2809 39,500 CUP 12.3 3023 46,000 CUP
35 GR. HDY V-MAX Hodgdon H110 .224" 1.725" 11.5 2901 35,100 CUP 12.8 3137 45,500 CUP
35 GR. HDY V-MAX Hodgdon Lil'Gun .224" 1.725" 12.5 2980 29,900 CUP 13.5 3122 35,300 CUP

The only powder that even comes CLOSE at safe pressures is LILGUN - not 296/110.

Pressure testing or not, "Schtick" hasn't the brains or balls to even name the powder charge used to get 3,450 FPS. Because as EVERY source named so far on this thread has shown- it's not possible with safe loads.

100 FPS off is not "close"

And I guarantee you that your "Hero" did not find an extra 100 FPS with a 33g slug and a 20" tube.

None of you lying snipe hunters will post the exact powder charge of 296, so it's all just more BS.

And besides, Stock hates Texans anyway. wink

Then you better tell Hodgdon about it ...

I'm sure they'd be interested in knowing morons are trying to get those speeds given the pressure data above.

While you are posting on here, repost the load.

Remember- it's 3,450FPS in a 20" tube with a 33g bullet.
